Default blue screen of death on install

hey everyone, ive got a brand new shiny t61p thinkpad that i just bought and i eagerly went to install medieval total war 2 on its virgin hard drive... alas it crashed to a blue screen of death during the install half way through the second disc. I chalked this up to bad luck and attempted the installatoin again.... the very same thing happened at the same moment! ive also tried copying all the files to the harddrive and running it from there, and the problem occured again.

i thought maybe it was my laptop but ive installed adobe cs 3 from cd and it runs fine, and ive also run linux off of it and everything works great there....any suggestions? i cant wait to try medieval 2 on this thing, its got 4 gigs ram, 180 gb hd, 256mb nvidia and a 3.5 intel centrino duo processor. it should be able to handle mtw 2.

    thanks for the help!

A total FU exception has occured at your location. All system functionality will be
    terminated.
*Press any key to power cycle the system. If system does not restart; scream at top
of lungs and pound on keypad.
*If you need to talk to a programmer press any other key
    Press any key to continue
    kinda like this?
    WELLLL
You should bring back medieval two and get a new copy. if the problem continues, you should use another computer. your laptop could be "t3h suckz0rz" for video games.

im going to borrow my firneds copy and see if it makes a difference... i dont think this laptop is the suckors for playing games because its got very good specs and ive read plenty of great reviews of game playing experiences on it.

    thanks for the help!

but why would it crash during the install? i mean i havent even tried to play yet, so i cant see how gfx would be involved yet.
