    Do the Mongols still have no upkeep costs in SS5.1?

    No they have upkeep. So much so that in the early turns of the Late Era Campaign, you either have to disband some of your armies or go on a pillaging spree to keep your finances above zero...I recommend the latter course of action

    so then are the upkeep costs minimal? i thought originally the upkeep costs were removed to make it tougher for the player to beat the AI during the mongol invasion. how does the AI have an advantage with the Mongols?

    They get a lot of money given to them when they are AI controlled. Not to mention the multiple stacks of very experienced troops...and the 10 star, 10 dread generals that lead them

    i see, so it was necessary to give them upkeep costs because they can be human controlled now.

    does the AI handle these upkeep costs ok? i mean, is it still able to expand quickly? the upkeep costs do appear to be minimal. also, i noticed that the mongols' starting purse is only 10000. seems a little low. perhaps the lack of money will prevent the AI from expanding? if so can we give them bonus cash at the end of each turn?

    I personly dont want the mongols to be overpowered compared to other factions, I would hate it if any surrounding AI controlled lands would have no chance against the mongols.

    In my current KoJ game (wich is frigging bloodbath) Mongols seems to not expanding at all, they just sent one Jihad stack (poor Subutai ) on me and took one Turkish city, thats all their activity for a span of ~90 turns.
    While other muslims pretty much endlessly spanked me thru all Jihad duration (about 80 turns).
    I almost lost all hair on my head, beating all that stacks that they threw on me, i remember Turks emerged 6 almost full stacks from Adana to Antioch without giving me a single breath to resupply city.
    Mongols simply sit in their lands. Dunno what cause that lamb behaviour.

    p.s. As i see, amazing job was done since i played in 4.x versions. AI is friggin relentless and actually consider, what he doing. All small changes very very nice on my looking and i actually enjoy that (mtw) game, like never before.

    The mongols really lose their teeth as soon as you can field plate armor from my experience. Relying mostly on archers as they do.
