You cannot even imagine... let me just say that it was because of RS I started playing RTW again...

RS is probably the most impressive RTW mod now. I was impressed by the early builds, and it has come a VERY long way since then.

1.10c is, I think... and 1.10d (now known as Roma Surrectum 1.5) is on its way and is now in beta-testing.

RS2 is also in development - for more details check the threads around the forums. I recommend to check out the previews of some factions... You will be blown away, honestly....

    Full_Install 1.10b and then Hotfix 1.10c.

There will be another update soon that we'll call RS1.5.

I think the big problem with the first release was the stacks of money. That probably put you off. Don't be fooled this time at the start by the easy money - it gets harder and harder because of the expansion penalties.

Hmmm, never played the first versions, but still I doubt they were something ugly... Still, improvement is always good.

Well the earlier versions certianly weren't as good as the current one is IMHO.

Interesting, what were the major differences in the old and the new RS?

Wow 1.0 is really a long time ago. I remember I was hanging around this forum for like 2 months. I wouldn't play any other mod than RS! When it was finally released, I hadn't played rtw for more than two months. And when I first uploaded a Roman campaign, and got my *** kicked by Pyrrhus, I got addicted...

Anyway, as dvk said, you had craploads of money in those days It was surreal, truly.
Furthermore, the map was not really developed back then. I forget who edited the map do look the way it looks now... in any case he did an excellent job. And now Baxon is making it even better
Also, in the first versions, Angel hadn't reworked the unit stats yet. So the battles were not as tough.
And then there were the small things, total overpowering from missile troops to name one.

And a lack of diverse units among non-roman factions. Which there still are to an extent (hellenic factions), but that will all be fixed in 2.0

I must say that now that i have played the new version I dont want to play any other RTW mod. This mod rocks!

although I do have to make some tweaks to it, but there just personal preference tweaks.
