    Default Sure Defeat

If you face an enemy which will 70%+ win over your army what do you do?

1.try to Slaughter as many enemy soldiers with your soldiers.
2.Flee and raise a better army and fight your foe.
    3.simply ignore them.

I slaughter as many enemy soldiers as i can and i don't care about my losses as long i killed more of their soldiers.

I try to kill as many as possible if it is something I cannot avoid by reloading. Especially in the case of a siege.

It depends on where my army/settlement is when the battle is initiated. If im attacked in the middle of nowhere, with no other settlements or armies nearby, I make a stand and try to take out as many enemies as possible with the forces that I have. If there is another army or settlement nearby, I will retreat and consolidate my forces if possible to make an attack of my own.

    1. Kill the general.
    2. If I have heavy cavalry, slam into as many missile units as possible, or if they dont have missile troops, or they dont have good missile troops then go for the HI.
    3. Again, using cavalry, damage the enemy artillery as much as possible.
    4. Withdraw.
    I love you all!

    Depends:

If I have decent units that I know are capable of pulling off a win I'll fight it out. But if I have crap units and they have knights and what not then I'll accept the defeat[assuming that my retreat didn't get my army out of their range] and prepare an army to destroy theirs.

depends on the battle, if they outnumber you because of reinforcements you can probably win 3 to 1s in some cases. i personnaly try to kill as many of as possible and try to start rout momentum. sometimes it works and sometimes it back fires spectacularly... also, Captin Spanky dont you lose 7 troops a stack or something for withdrawing?

If it's an open field battle I can do almost anything. I usually rush to kill their family members and if they have artillery, I will go for them too.

If it's a siege, I go for the last stand at plaza. I have always won with my last stand tactic when I would have lost otherwise for sure.

In one recent battle I had lost it for sure as it was 200 v 10 with only my General's Bodyguard remaining.

I realised that I had battle time limit on however and ran around the sides of the map and let it run down, ended up winning becasue I had inflicted more kills.

when out numbered greatly and by stronger unit I generally retreat. however, if I'm brought to battle I try and take out as many of the enemy as I can.

Try to win. Then again, I play with cavalry a lot, which can decide the fate of battles more so than spearmen.

Besides that I'd just skirmish the hell out of 'em, then retreat (if I still had movement points left).

Otherwise, to the last man, of course.

I'll take as many of those Milanese enemies as possible with me.

If I can afford to get the troops butchered, I'll face them for sure. Usually though, I can at the very least kill the general, and if not, those losses will make the life harder for the enemy(except when they're near their own castle when they can just retrain them and the losses become insignificant :/).

I try to encircle and gang up on enemy generals, then as a second priority I'll try to kill as many mounted and dismounted knights as possible. If I have any heavy cavalry left, I'll probably go for the missile troops.

One nasty trick might be to set up some stakes anywhere on the battlefield, and try to lure the enemy cavalry through it, I'll happily sacrifice a peasant archers- unit which would flee through the sharp side of the stakes....

When facing a far superior force, I usually retreat. A soldier who escapes will be able to fight another day
But if I'm cornered, I try to do as much damage as possible, taking many enemy down with me.

I believe it totaly depends on the makeup of the army, its location and effects that will be felt several turns later. If i have an army of cheap crappy peasants ill send them off to die but if veteran knights or generals are at stake i would run. Or if it was a front on the brink of collapse i would do my best to save the army.

    In an open field battle:

If I have calvary in my army I use them to tease the enemy and thin them out while manually skirmish with my soldiers on foot.

If I don't have calvary, I usually chalk it up as a loss and just do my best to take as many out before they stomp me into the ground.

It depends entirely on my armies composition really. If it's balanced (cavalry, archers, heavy inf) then I go for it, cavalry charge at archers, flank to general and artillery while holding inf and archers back. Repeat until they reach me (usually this costs a lot of cav, but meh) and then fight to the last man with extra micro'age.

If it's a HA army then obviously stand and fight and tbh, will probably win lol (esp. with Vards, they're the bestest).

If it's just an infantry army with little to no archers/cavalry then i'll usually run away, or hide in the very corner of the map so when I route most of them escape

In my present campign with the Byzantine Empire I would won, my experienced Vardariotai would win the day. Yesterday one Vardariotai defeated and killed the Venetian faction leader, he had defeated one of my best generals.
