im trying to do a overhaul of the byzantine empire factions units, im still a beginner when it comes to modding the game however, the first thing i want to do is to take the byzantine infantry and give them the saber from lacas spearmen, and the armor upgrades of the lancers, i plan on taking out the lancers, cause them and the infantry are basically the same, and the same slot the lancers will be a skutatoe unit with a long spear, more lightly armored than lacas unit tho, this is the unit lignup i have planned,

tier 1:
levy spearmen- better than peasants but only do to a better weapon, short spear unit

tier 2:
city-
toxotai militia(archer)-archer militia
urban milirtia(im unsure of this units true name in greek)-reskined spear militia, slight training
castle-
slythikon-mostly the same
alan light calvary-moving them outta the merc spot
tresbond archers- same unit

tier 3:
city-
proninai(sp?) infantry-(byzantine infantry with a saber, and upgrades)
proninai reserves- (basically proninai from kingdoms but my own version, a bit weaker)
castle-
proninai calvary-medium calvary

tier 4:
city-
tagmata infantry-(heavy infantry with a saber and large shield and javelins)-may not be completely historical but i like the idea of one legionairy esq unit in he roster
skutatoe- heavy spearman unit
castle-
kataphractoi- heavy calvary w/mace and lance
generals bodyguard- um yeah
tagmata calvary- armored javalin calvary
tagmata reserves- basically guard archers not as powerful tho
tier 5:
city-
varangian guard-same unit may give a ranged weapon on top of the ax, don't kno yet, expensive + low recruitment
hoplitai pikemen-heavily amored pike unit
castle-
klibano-super heavy calvary-devastating charge but expensive and low recruitment

as far a siege equiment goes will be the same, except the byzantines will have access to a cannon. now many may notice the lack of Ha's but i plan on having many of the byzantines merc armrys actually mercs, and recruitable around constantinople, this mod i plan for personal use simple because im no skinner and am using lacas and disgruntled goats skins, i will release the mod publically if i can get my hands on a skinner, and modeler, cause what i really want is a complete reskin as well, but as of now i can barely make what u see:hmmm:
