I would have to go with a Bridge Too Far, based off an awesome book by the way.

    Reasons:

    1. Showcased the heroism of all the allies present at the battle, including the Americans, Polish and the British along with the Dutch civilians.
    2. Showed the Germans as humans and even gave their perspective.
    3. For a movie, very historically accurate.
    4. Awesome battle scenes.

And the greatest war movie scene of all time:

“The nation that will insist upon drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking by cowards.”

It's a long time since I saw A Bridge Too Far, but I think Stalingrad is a great movie. Want to see a movie about the battle of Stalingrad? Get that one, not Enemy at the Gates.

I have a liking for Cross of Iron. The story of a cynical wehrmacht corporal (James Coburn) placed under the command of a glory-seeking Captain (Maximilliam schell) who wants nothing else other than the Iron Cross.

Great cast includes James Mason and David 'Jon Irenicus' Warner.

    Pearl Harbor.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
It gets my vote as the worst WW2 film.

Don't mess with the classics - A Bridge Too Far, The Dambusters, Battle of the Bulge.

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all.

Tora, Tora, Tora; The Dam Busters; Carve Her Name with Pride; In Which We Serve; The Battle of Britain; Reach for the Sky.

They are my favourite WW2 movies. Tora, Tora, Tora probably takes it as I am still staggered by the gross incompetence of the Americans then, it is also a remarkably even handed film. Doesn't attempt to demonise anyone.

There again, Reach for the Sky's portrayal of Douglas Bader is inspiring. Apparently he was a hard nosed bloke, but when you lose both legs and are still the greatest fighter pilot of his generation in the RAF, then you have every right to be. A bit too romantic, I suppose.

Cross of Iron, as mentioned eariler.

My favourite WW2 that's not a war film.

    Is Der Untergang DownFall.

Some of you might criticize me as it shows Hilter as a human, but he was a human.

Hilter is a black stain on Human history, not German History.

According to the Theory of War, which teaches that the best way to avoid the inconvenience of war is to pursue it away from your own country, it is more sensible for us to fight our notorious enemy in his own realm, with the joint power of our allies, than it is to wait for him at our own doors.

Patton (1970) was a good flick: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066206/, swept the Oscars and George C. Scott won a statue for his portrayal of Patton and turned it down because that's how he rolls.

Bull. The whole plot was stupid, and never happened in WWII.
