Have you guys beaten the main campaign with all the factions. The ones you haven't beaten it with, could you explain why.

Beaten the game with all the factions?

Unless you don't take the reasonable element seriously (like, you know, 30 spies in one city to try and make it rebel, or using the blitz tactic), it could take up to 6 months to finish it with one faction. My friend, playing as HRE, without using blitz or other silly tactics just finished his campaign today, and he started it in April of this year. I think he plays about 10-30 hours a week.

hehe that is true, I play heavily modded version so it takes even longer than usual as you have to micro manage eveything after a month of playing I got to 1240 (and I play something like 20 hours a week)

I don't think any of the developers or playtesters ever did before the game was first released.

Have you guys ever had an insanely evil general, that has committed the most evil things. Like burn down every city belonging to a certain faction or something else.

A had a Family Member that unsuspectingly became the faction heir (king died of heart attack, Prince gets assassinated) that had just finished his Campaign in Denmark. He sacked every city and executed every prisoner. He had like 8 Dread, but also had 6 Authority from all his traits. Which was a refreshing change from all my insane kings.

    Certainly.

I remember Talq fondly. He had full dread despite a ton of chivalry traits and ancillaries, and ended up with maxed authority as well as the others. One of my more beloved little exterminators. None of his traits were "negative" in the way that they effected him, plus it was nice to groom him as he had the "vision of prophecy" trait. When Constantinople fell in 1308, the prophecy was fulfilled. The only faction he was merciful with was the Turks, who he accepted as a vassal rather than take their last settlement, then gave them a few others to strengthen them. Everyone else got put to the knife. And by everyone, I mean about 1,000,000 crusaders who continually poured in from North Africa, moving through Norman territory, as well as coming down through Anatolia and by naval invasion.

Talq saw heavy duty from the moment he turned of age, and directly presided over the defense of the Fatimid caliphate from those crusades. When he became Sultan he then oversaw and led the annexation of Anatolia and Constantinople as vengeance for the assaults he suffered in his youth. He really did slaughter an untold number of prisoners and order a similar number of assassinations. He had to kill at least 6 stacks of papal states ****s alone. What a great character, thanks for prompting me to look back through my tgas. I was looking for a HRE general but found Talq.

Since I bought the game when it came out I've only been able to finish (finish means getting all the required province) as England, playing as 1tpy by around 1450 AD.

    Currently playing the Moors.

    All?

I can't even finish a single faction without switching to another one.
BUT, I'm playing as England using DLV and I'm at the year 1225.
At least I'll try to finish one faction.

    Better than nothing right?

Sadly not finished a campaign as yet

Problem is I tend not to have enough time to have a go on a regular basis and therefore lose the thread of what I was about to do.

However now making notes as I go and still playing as the English, I intend to finish this time.

Starting with short campaign and only need a few more provenices which will be kindly donated by the French as I kick their butt off the map

Don't think I've every finished a campaign. I get bored with large empires so in general I keep them small. My current Venice campaign may be the first (and last) I ever finish, and I only grew large in that to stop the Pope taking over the world.

I've never finished a campaign, becasue in two of my campaigns they looked like I would finih them. GO back the next day and all my saves won't work.

I've had the game just over a year now and have only finished as HRE (twice), France and England. I do play mods and a good many of my campaigns have been trashed just to get the new updated version of the mod and others have either gotten boring or the bloodline gets thrashed and as a result I abandon the campaign as failed. (At least I know I'm not the only one that doesn't like not being able to select the faction heir.)

I love Vision of Prophecy. Probably my favorite trait, second only to Born Conqueror.

Now, when I had a General by the name of Henry that had both... well, he expanded English territory nicely in his life time. Unfortunately, he wasn't the genocide type. That would've been Harold the Merciless, who sacked/exterminated 5 Danish cities.

    Yes.

What's the description of the trait?
I have yet to encounter that one myself.
