How to bribe?

I know it's probably stupid of me to ask, but how do you use the diplomat to bribe? I go up to a town/captain/general and enter the diplomay screen but I can't find any bribe option.

As far as I can tell, you cannot bribe a capital or a king, but I really can't answer your question in full.

You can't bribe faction heirs either.

also heirs or king they would never accept the bribe ^_^

but family members,general,captains you can bribe with diplomat (bribe appears as first option)

And it will only work if you have TONS of cash on hand. Generally I find bribing totally uneconomical. Many thousands of florins for low end, low tech units.

Bribing is best left to Rome Total War, you can win the game by buying cities.

well bribing can be usefull when you have a lot of cash and not a big enough army to counter the enemy. You can then bribe their reinforcements before they meet up with the rest of their army.
