How can I add a faction to SS 5.1

Hey guys, I love this mod but lately all I want to do in this game is resurrect the Roman Empire. I was thinking of adding a new faction to the game called Imperial Roman Empire. I would probably make it a vessel to the Byzantines and would probably copy their roster almost exactly. I would probably make them an orthodox faction so it would cause a bit of strife in Italy with the other factions and at the same time piss off the pope and strengthen the alliance with Byzantium. To start off if possible Id like it just the faction leader already sieging Rome. If thats not possible Id have it hold one of the rebel cities in Italy (probably Florence). Its going to be a tough game being an enemy of the pope but thats what I want. The Romans want to bring back their empire and the Pope doesnt want to give up his power. Does anybody know how I could go about doing this or if its possible. Is anybody willing to do this and tell me how so I can set it up on my computer. I think their would be HUGE interest in this as it would probably be a quick little minimod but could be added to if people like it.
Any comments? suggestions? anybody willing to help me with this?

Just a reminder that there is only one free faction slot and KK has already decided on what it will be. So unless you delete an existing faction, your work wont fit into future versions of SS

There are tutorials on how to do this in the Mod Workshop area.

I saw those guides and they look kind of tough (as i have 0 skill in modding). Im sure I can muddle my way through. I think maybe Ill just copy the SS folder and have 2 versions. I plan to toss out the Aztecs. After probably playing more than billion times I have yet to make it to America. I either get bored with the game by that time or I have already won.

Doesn't a renewed Western Roman Empire sound fun to anybody else? Its not even that historically inacurate. Byzantine Emperor Justinian was trying to reestablish the Western Empire during his rule. Im not sure if any other Emperors tried the same but I think so.

The guides can be daunting to those new to modding but with a bit of experimenting it's a lot of fun. If you have questions, dont be afraid to post them in the mod workshop forums. The people there are very helpful...but please, please don't be one of those people who post there and then gets pissed off because they dont get a reply in 5 minutes: a LOT less people read the modding forums than the general forums and so it can take longer to get a reply

It doesn't sound that fun to me because it isn't historically accurate

. But that's just me. I prefer to restore the roman empire through the Byzantine empire
