Default Man of the Hour Question

Just noticed something weird and its bugging the heck out of me. It seems that only Christian factions are able to get the man of the hour. Playing as Orthodox and Muslim factions I never get it. Is it just bad luck for me or is their some formula to determine this.

I've got it once-- as Egypt. Not exactly sure of any formula however.

If you have too few family members for the amount of cities you have, you can get man-of-the-hour. If happens after winning a battle, if the battle was not led by a family member. If it happens to one of your non-family generals, he joins the family. If it happens to a captain, you get a new general who is a family member (just like adoption.

So we've established you have a lot of land, but what of your family? Do you have tons of family members. The ratio is supposed to be 2:1 so that could be why you're getting many men in even more hours, whilst others aren't.

I received Man of the hour a few times after the Plague and some poor military decisions put a hurt on my family tree.

i know this is completely irrelevent but how did you get to play as the mongols because i always thought it was one of the unplayable factions like the papal states, the tumirids, the aztecs and the rebels:hmmm:

Generally the best way to have a man of the hour is to attack a rebel army with few army troops against the army of rebels, you can easily win if your troops are better units as an individual

A few of you are getting man of the hour as Muslims. Can we get a definitive answer on this? If i remember right when I play orthodox or muslim my families always seem to be a bit small. So I would have thought I would have alot of Man of the Hours pop up.

I play as Byzantium right now (and when i have played it in the past) i get a good amount of these Man of the Hour. In my last session i managed to get 3 in a turn.
So i can verify that Byzantium (Orthodox) gets this feature too.

I have had 2 man of the hour so far in my Moors campaign. Ratio is about 1.7 to 1.

Nice thing was that the captain of my iberian fire brigade stack became one very useful
Hit them as hard as you can, as fast as you can, where its going to hurt them the most..... and preferably when theyre not looking!

As Egupt I got them too.

And I don't think it's random : IMHO you get them after every won battle without a general when you got less general/governers then cities.

It depends on the decisiveness of the battle as well I think. If you went in with 1000 men and came out with 96 for example then I don't think you would get the Man of the Hour event. But if you went in with 1000 and came out with 960, and had less governors/generals than cities, you would probably get it.

No, I do not think it depends on the decisiveness of the battle. I could be wrong, but in my experience, you just need to win the battle.

I -respectfully- disagree : the odds and decisivness doesn't seem to matter. In my experience, you get them every won battle when you don't have enough of them and fight without a general. Not sure what happens when you fight with a non-family general, I rarely use them, hehe.

For me its not "every" won battle in these circumstances. Ive just played a turn with venice, 6 battles in the turn, only 2 with generals and got man of the hour on the 5th, all were open field battles except a siege victory in the 6th so no difference in territory ratio.

Hmmmm never heard of this before :hmmm:

In my current English campaign I'm well short of generals/governers, I win most battles but have never seen this pop up.

    Now adoption yes occasionally.

Could the frequency be set by difficulty rating ?????

Easier the level setting the more frequent it happens

You also get it with generals who are not part of the family.
