Im really sorry to ask. You won't even tell me any range. And it's forbidden to ask. I already fear the replies. "You evil person, you want to stress the RTR team. You have no soul." But I just want to know when I should plan on getting it. Is that so bad? Not an exact date, just anything.

Right now, I don't know if it will come tomorrow or mid '09.

But what might be considered more important is the fact that the The Iberian Conflict will “soon” be out. And even when you only want to watch the videos included there it is worth downloading.

I'm not a part of the modding team or such, but knowing atleast something from software production i can atleast give out some reasons why there isn't a given date and probably won't be any.

1. Estimating work amounts and timelines for software production tricky at best. In addition a usual thumb rule for the (allways) inaccurate work estimates is to increase the estimate by a factor of 1.3 or so, because projects are never ever on time and estimates wrong.

2. Modding team isn't doing the mod 8 hours a day like people who do it for living. Meaning if project leader would estimate that project will take 1000 work hours, it would take 125 days from one programmer to do the work. If you have a person who does an unknown amount of work per day, you really can't give any exact date. If one modder does 1000 work hour project 2 hours per week, it would take over 9 years.

So taking into account of those points, there isn't a given date most likely, because no one knows it. Even the developers themselves.

No, I'm not Herpes. I'm an ex-mod of the old official forums (hence why I vaguely remembered the name), and am a returning dev.

And I think it's pretty safe to say that you guys will be very, very happy in just a matter of weeks. I fired up the latest beta for the first time a few days ago and was blown away. So keep your head up, TIC will be here soon

We don't plan on giving release dates simply because we will have to deal with the stress, and you guys need to deal with the depression of it being delayed. As Seleuk said, TIC is very close(weeks), but RTR VII is quite far(months).

One fo the great things about RTR (in the time I've been playing it) is the number of sub-mods that have been released for it. Before 7.0 stalled, there was a wish that one could play using the newer versions of RTW that solved the save-reload problem, and Platinum was duly born. And from that, there is a different flavour to suit every taste, from the Metro-Naval Mod that I'm currently besotted with to Imperator, which is specifically geared to provide a challenge for Roman players. And from the mini-mods, one can pick and choose and combine to get the playing mode that one wants.

The only way to get advance sightings of the RTR development is to join the RTR development team. Although if MCM is kind enough to let me have a peek or two, I won't complain.

It`s understandable, but you should see what happens when a mod announces a release date(even a rough aproximation) and that doesn`t happen. It`s hell. The spam threads grow like crazy and it degenerates fast into more ugly conversations.

Number of modders working on project+average modding speed over their entire project (including the stuff they haven't done yet)=Release date
