    What do you think?

Was Magnificent 7 better or equal to The Seven Samurai?

How about Yojimbo and Sanjuro compared to Fistfull of Dollars and A Few Dollars More?

Personally, I've to say with specific movies I like one or the other better. I preferreded the storytelling in Seven Samurai to Magnificent Seven, but I liked Fistfull of Dollars betters than Yojimbo.

    I think Kurosawa is overrated.

Not that his movies aren't good, but some people put him at godlike status.

Because hes one of the best directors of all time and many great directors claim him as their influence?

Being that I can only understand English, I guess the Western versions.
I assume then you can't read english?

I agree. Seven Samurai was great, and I do prefer the man with no name trilogy to any japanese counterpart.

Clearly I don't view him as among the best, so I don't get your question.

I must say I was astonished when I saw The Seven Samurai. I didnt expect such a good and entertaining movie (not even the primitive means of filmmaking disturbed). So I go for the Japanese

Magnificent Seven is superior to the Seven Samurai.

I disagree with you on this one, to me, Seven Samurai will always be superior to Magnificent Seven. I am heavily biased however, since I am a Japanese history buff and I am going to college for Japanese culture studies and history.
