    Default Question about Greek flamethrowers

I am playing an early era campaign as The bryzantine empire.

and i finaly managed to get constantinople to a huge city, yet i was still unable to build the academia ( Lycaeum )

Is this because gunpowder need's to be invented before you can build those buildings ?

If that is the case then i think it should be changed since they already can build firethrowing ships at the beginning.

Yes you need the gunpowder event and a certain level of market building.

Okay I do not understand this thing at all,how come it says you get Greek flamethrowers in early period, when you really do not?

This is the problem with many other units too.

If by early period you mean for custom battles, then that is completely separate from the campaign game. The era system for unit availability is only for custom battles when you select early, middle, late or all periods.

Oh that is terrific,so than where do you look to find out when you get a unit in what period?

Don"t tell me that you have to look in the Building browser, because that be very painful to that for every faction.

For custom battles? Only two ways that I know of: looking through each faction in the custom battle maker, and looking through the EDU file...not sure which way is less painful

This is related I suppose, regarding the year Gun Powder is discovered seems to be different based on the faction you are playing. I play several different campaigns, thus I can't remember exactly which factions didn't receive gun powder on turn 21 in the late era campaign. However I do remember a few factions not getting it(At least one).

Perhaps it was the Teutonic order that didn't get gun powder. If anyone has seen something similar please post. If not I will do some checking again when I get home.

In my late-era campaign as the Teutonic Order, I got gunpowder.
