Fact is any sensible Muslim will just use an ordinary compass and buy an alternative car that's better value for money. I doubt Allah is going to be that pissed if a Muslim is a fraction of a degree off! The company has enough problems to deal with than to invest in such a pointless venture with little realistic market potential.

Because funnily enough the company cannot compete with foreign alternatives. The only reason it was successful is due to control of imported cars, something that has been eased in recent years.

Well it's a compass that also have the direction towards Mecca so wherever you go you'll always know where to direct the prayer to.

We've already have watches with this function and also handphones that automatically have sets of alarm reminding of prayer time.

Islamic card may sound like a gimmick or sales pitch , but it's actually more like cars convenient for muslims.

What worries me is that this gimmick will actually work on some people.

Why not ? It's one of the sales tactic. We're trying to conquer market which is dominated by western and Japanese cars to sell in the muslim world.

Could well be the reason they're pimping such a thing, just to gain some marketshare back with what's essentially just a flirt with religion for money.
