    Default Graphics problems

    Hey,

I was just playing Medieval 2 - Kingdoms and noticed two strange graphical errors.

First, on the game menus, sometimes a few strange lines appeared horizontally on the screen, from one side to the other, a few pixels thick.

But more annoyingly, while playing a siege battle, many of my units would grow funny triangular shapes over their heads, that would stretch all the way to the sky, when viewed from a certain angle. The texture on them looked vaguely like a Siege Tower texture. I took screenshots, but the glitch does not appear on them.

What could be causing this? Five days ago I upgraded to a Core 2 Quad CPU with GeForce 8800GTX 768MB for the graphics - but today is the first time any glitch showed. The only different thing I did today was that I opened the New World game for the first time - before I was only playing the Crusades and the Teutonic campaigns. Still the lines on the menu now appear on all campaigns.

Edit: The lines on the menus appear on screenshots

I believe that quadcore and dualcore aren't really supported by the game. try running it on one core. (Vista also hates games btw)

Do you have the latest version of the Windows Media Player? I remember having some issues with Medieval II when my WMP version was out of date.

No Vista, couldn't find one good reason to upgrade. I do have the latest WMP, though I never use it, mostly Winamp. Also, I haven't seen these two bugs since the time of the post. Could have been random.

Or maybe it was caused by the Americas Campaign; haven't opened it since, too busy with Crusades.

It could be a overheating problem or simply a bad card.

No Its not just a software problem as it has nothing to do just with medieval. Try other games like for me i tried half life 2 with the same distortion. I believe it is a driver / hardware issue.

But that proves that it is a hardware problem not a software problem...
