    Default New Player Difficulty?

I just bought this game a few days ago, and started with the Russians (hate all the starting factions, couldnt bring myself to play though). I thought I was doing ok, till I got some message about a prince or captain revolting. Then next turn I was looking desperately around for it...and thought oh god. My full army of druzhima and the boynar sons (spelled wrong) Was loose around me, and all I had were a couple woodsmen to defend.

On to my question, what difficulty do you recommend playing on? I had it on hard/hard with managing cities on. If it matters, I will be playing as the Turks. It will be a long campaign. Thanks for the help

EDIT: Also, is there a way to slow down how long a turn is, I seem to play much more slowly and methodically rather than rush early game.

i personally would recommend hard/hard, it'll take a little while to get used to, but, Medium/Medium or easy/easy gets boring FAST. also, the turks have good units. for the most part your units will be on par or better than the ai's. Note ( i play VH/VH whit the SS 5.0 mod so some things may be different.) good luck with your campaign.

Well if you would bother to sit more than half an hour every turn (okey not the first couple of turns) just planning what to do then I recomend very hard/very hard. If you **** up on a turn you might be sold out tough.
The battle difficulty is atleast not so much of a problem, but it takes time getting down the AI spammed armies on very hard campaign.
I think h/h is more than a challenge but if you aren't having any problems in the battles set in battle to vh perhaps then atleast I have a chance to loose a few battles. But when you have got your empire then you might want as many enemy armies as possible not empty enemy castles.

Medium/Medium is good for a beginner. Especially if you are new to the TOTAL WAR series.

Medium campaign difficulty makes Diplomacy useful and gives you time to get used to the "rules" of the game (how to build an economy and army and keep it balanced and profitable). If you put it to easy the AI probably wont attack you a single time and act primarly passive, while medium gives you at least occasional attacks on your provinces. If you make it to 20 or 30 provinces without getting into financal or military troubles go for hard.

Very hard is just a "all AI factions declare war on you and wont give into a ceasefire under any circumstances" modus.

I remember my first ever Julii campaign at Medium/Medium. The Gauls were such a nightmare. I lost around 10 full stacks between the Marsaille bridge and the exit. It would've taken me around 50 turns to realize what I was doing wrong. It was fun though.

Make sure you play your second campaign at at least H/H.

    Or just download Ultimate AI.

I'm also fairly new to the game, and I can tell you from experience to not go Easy/Easy... If you are completely new then medium/medium or h/h will do. Actually what I find works best is Medium/Hard Campaign difficulty and Very Hard Battles, since the AI needs as much help in those as it can get. Haven't played a campaign with the turks yet so can't say much about that....

I'm a firm believer that someone's rate of learning is directly a result of the level of challenge they face.

I would recommend that you throw yourself directly into the fray. Go for VH/VH. You might lose a few times, but you'll find out very quickly what doesn't work.

WHereas, if you play on easier settings, strategies that aren't great may still reward you with victory, reinforcing the use of crappy strategies.

Yeah, when playing on medium/medium with the Julii in rtw I always gto lots and lots of good traits after really bad fights wich weren't close to well planned. That was my first campaign tough still after a while it got really unsatisfying winning battles to easy.
