    Default Sicily

My first 5.1 campaign is with Sicily and I am enjoying it so far.

I really like the new kite shield designs. I also find it a great improvement that Norman knights keep their unique appearance when upgraded, and have their original horses back too.

I noticed something strange though, one Sicilian castle in the late campaign has two units of light swordsmen in its garrison. Sicily does not have them on their roster though, and cannot recruit more. Maybe they could be put in their roster since they are in the game and seemingly have Sicilian textures assigned to them as well.

I would also like to make suggestions for the Sicilian roster. I think the muslim part of Sicily might need to show a little more than with just one unit. Maybe their mounted crossbowmen could be replaced by some sort of horse archers, or mounted spear throwers.

My other suggestion is to add another unit to show Sicily's norman roots. I am sure that not all normans that invaded Sicily where knights. This could be a unit that is also used by denmark or norway, or one that is only used for mercenaries at the moment.

I think I give two valid suggestions here, no new units need to be created for this, simply two existing units being made available to Sicily to show their great variety in bloodlines.

i think that the first English knights should be Norman knights, as they were invaded by Normans too, maybe Norman seargents would be a good unit as an early infantry... or something..

the topic is Sicily at the moment though so lets not discuss other factions unless it affects Sicily.

Oh I noticed another thing that could be changed, Sicily has Imperial knights, I think that Broken Lances would be more appropriate since they have them dismounted as well, and the other Italian factions have them too.

I personly really like united cultures in one faction, I liked the Seleucid Empire for that reason in Rome total war. Its just great to see how the cultures strenghten each other and form into a powerfull army when combined.

Yes I love when my army is combine with diverse units too because than I"m invincible, but first you have to figure out a tactic with your diverse units.

Okay if I could mod than I would do it right now,but I can"t mod.
But yes I can help with other things.

I know little of the history of Sicily though, if it wasnt for this game I wouldnt have known it was of any importance in the medieval period.

But it seems like they combine the Norman, Italian and muslim people into one faction so it could show a little more.

thanks, it just seems odd to me that only norman knights represent the norman roots. They really should have another norman unit to represent the norman soldiers that are not of noble blood.

--------Map of Italy in tenth century--------

    --------Sicily small Medieval history brief--------

The people of Sicily and Naples are generally Siculi and Greek settlements in the east, and Sicani/Elymi, Phoenician/Arab and Norman settlements in the west.

Under the Norman rule,Sicily had Freedom of religion, diverse culture and languages for example Normans issue their official documents in three languages:Latin, Greek and Arabic. The Norman rule respect and welcome other cultures and gaved them freedom in life and economy with great tolerance to the new newcomers.
The reason behind Norman Sicily being one of or the best cities and culture with great economy is Tolerance.

-------Norman units information of Norman Sicily----
The Norman rule lasted from 1091 to 1191 which the Hauteville dynasty died out and the Norman and Germen Princes took power.

The Sicilian Normans used weapons and armor from western, northern Europe and Islamic and Greek equipment.

Am going to continue on this tomorrow because am getting tired of searching for nothing. In my opinion the Norman Sicily had Norman Spear unit along with Light infantry sword Muslim/Christian unit and Two handed Axe units I bet too ect.I mean you have to know that Normandy supported Norman Sicily so Sicilian units roster should be a lot more diverse compare to other factions.

    ---------Norman Cavalry game bug----------
King kong or modders, please do include that the Norman Cavalry should not have a sword as a secondary weapon, but should have a Chieftains iron AX dead axe or a mace as the secondary weapon. The Norman Cavalryman used Swords and axes or maces as secondary weapons.

--Here is bonus information to the Muslim units.---
Okay so the last Muslim on Sicily is in 1224,which the Germen and Catholic princes moved them to Lucera in southern Italy or they left and fled to north Africa.

    -----Information of Sicily Europe Units---------
Than the Sicilian Vespers or Angevin-Aragonese event(1266-1406) when Sicily got ruled by other kings of Europe:Aragon,France and Germany, ect.
