Default The United States and Britain, are we really THAT different?

    I was just wondering.

I know that each country is different from each other, and I have never been to the U.K., but it doesn't seem like people in the U.K. live any differently than people in the US. I mean the biggest discrepancies is in law and politics, a thing expected from two different countries. What do you guys think?

Well, US is improving it's military while british politics are trying to please the public, at the cost of the military.

Yes, we have a Queen and you an Emperor.
According to the Theory of War, which teaches that the best way to avoid the inconvenience of war is to pursue it away from your own country, it is more sensible for us to fight our notorious enemy in his own realm, with the joint power of our allies, than it is to wait for him at our own doors.

Well apart from law and politics you've outlined, not many countries are that different, in the Christian west, anyway.

What kind of differences and similarities (beyond just being human, like having overweight people lol) are you referring to?

We each have our own cultural and political differences, but I think we are more alike than different (disregarding the obvious fact that we speak the same language).

Honestly, no matter how much we Americans preach about our revolution and liberty, England was way ahead of us... We just took a step further, and then they capitalized on our mistakes (honestly I'm tired of the presidential system...).

No, parliamentary system for the win... Monarchy is, as we in the US say, "The Sux."

How about our mentality, view on religion, ethics, morals, values, taboos?... Actually, we are very different in many ways, and I can count as many issues I disagree with an American, as I agree... However we seem to agree about "freedom" and "democracy", just not the extent of freedom or how the democracy works.

Not so much. We're the only two liberal democracies, I think, which use the rediculous first past the post electoral system.

We are similar enough..though I'm sure both countries are glad of what differences we share

Like how we live our lives, the environment we live in (ie technology and standards of living).
