A PS3 is somewhat unique because the Blu-Ray Disc is a fairly big factor in determining how much the game costs. By the time all the marketing and distribution and legal side is all sorted Sony would get about £10 a game.

I'm confused, because I can't find that from that report.

However, what I found was this interesting thing.

By one analyst’s calculation, which assumes that Sony makes about $10 in revenues on each game whether produced by itself or a third party, 30 games must be sold per PS3 console – compared with eight for the PlayStation2 – to make up for the losses which Sony will incur over the next few years before the hardware itself achieves break-even.
What I understand here by a third party is for example EA, Ubisoft or Activision. So I guess the royalty/license fee is $10 according to that. It is what it is and expected, or I'm completely wrong. So I don't know, but after that $10 cut it doesn't change the PC publishing in to a favor against the console publishing. PC games usually come out with a $50 price tag where for console that price tag is usually $60, but you already know this.

I should have worded my statement better. There are more console owners than PC gamers. And in terms of sales, not quality games, the PC is in a decline I believe. I just said screw being a 1 dimensional gamer, I have a PC, a 360, and a Wii.

Maybe in the United States. In other countries, at least in most of them I believe, PC gaming is more popular than consoles. Look at Korea for example. Almost 20 million of their under 50 million population play MMORPG's on PC's. (You really can't play MMORPG's on a console now, can you?)

Alright maybe that is the case. After all I've never been to another country. But still, more and more it seems like the focus of the industry is on console gamers. Some of the biggest gaming franchises out there are console exclusive.

I'm a balanced gamer, owning handhelds, consoles, and of course, the PC. Yes, the PC has the best capabilities, and i'm pretty annoyed about the Force Unleashed not being released on the PC (the PS2 port will be a flop in my opinion), but consoles do have a larger market, and you neglect to see all the "exclusives", particularly Xbox and Xbox 360 ones, that have come to PC (Halo, Gears of War, Viva Pinata, etc). What's to say The Force Unleashed won't?
