I am no modder, and cannot mod if my life depended on it. However, the Doge I believe is actually an elected title, not a family title. So, I was wondering if King Kong could incorporate some sort of Venetian Elections into the next mod. However, it probably won't go through, as so many gameplay and balance issues would play out. If a new Doge was elected when one died, how could one win by killing off the royal family? And the family would change constantly.

Having elections wouldn't be possible. It is possible to just take out the family tree like Maikeru said, making them work like the Teutonic Order does.

That one HRE mod has elections for the Holy Roman Emperor, so I dunno, it might be possible after all?
