So I am playing my French campaign on VH. After having approx. 20 turns of mutually beneficial Trade Rights with Milan, they attack my island of Palma. No big surprise here.

I send a diplomat to Venice, my ally, and petition them to attack Milan. In response they request that I attack HRE, and the deal is made. I wait 2 turns, and then send an army to defend Venetian lands from HRE ( I DO have Military Access to Venetian lands). After defeating a fairly large HRE army, I end my turn.

Those Venetian @%*8!# attacked my army that saved them!!!

Over the next 20 turns or so, Venice, Milan, and HRE allied to each other, and wiped France off the map.....

You're playing on VH. Don't expect diplomacy to get you anywhere.

But yeah thats rough dude, i stick to H/VH tends to provide good diplomacy and still be challenging.

But at least you are having fun, i can't even seem to download patch 5.1.
Filefront keeps giving me errors. Anyways, i personally don't form alliances unless i really have trouble with an enemy faction.

I'm not too sure myself. But after retrying the download countless times and fiddling with my internet connection, i manage to get it working. Good luck to you.

Haha thats awesome, I love being on the defensive, letting them smash their troops into my walls... then when Im ready I send a nice army stack and wipe them out and if I can I assault a city.

On VH the enemy AI is more likely to backstab you. (the world is about you). H is a good balance imho.

Yep, VH is too unfun and just "Total War" which is annoying and doesn't give space for roleplaying.

On H I allied with Sicily and took Egypt together with them, until we were epicly beaten near Damascus by Egypt/Turk alliance. At several times I was helped near Jerusalem to fend off Muslim attacks while I sent ships with armies to Cagliari to avoid Moorish invasions. At some times this game does wondrous things.

Actually just started a new campaign last night on Hard. Did a little move_character and have relocated my Empire to Timbuktu. Lets see those Venetians backstab me, halfway across the map. HAH!

well is hard difficulty actually challenging in this mod?

Well, somewhat. The AI has pretty much unlimited funds (all "boundless"), so they can build and recruit everything that they have available. Only difference is you don't get the whole world against you, which is good cause it's no fun spending 30 minutes per turn fighting sieges.

yeah, vh seems to have some weird diplomacy. I see too many broken alliances. though my alliances are holding up nicely.
