    Default Single Gig of Ram?

I was wondering if it's possible to run this game using a single gig of ram if the rest of the rig is excellent? I have an Intel Core Duo 2.13 Ghz with a single gig of ram and an Nivada GeForce 7900 GS. Though I am able to max Medieval 2 Total War on high settings with no problems, I have heard that Kingdoms requires a bit more possibly another gig of ram, just for the campaigns, to run it as Medieval 2 Total War? So should I get the other gig of ram or would I just be fine running it? I've used strest and heard it wasnortoriously inaccurate

My com is lousier than yours, but i can tell you that i can run kingdoms on medium settings. I think 1 gig of RAM would suffice, there is no need for another unless you want a super smooth gameplay experience.

You shouldnt encounter any problems unless you have soem major mods insalled. The only things to watch out for is: setting unit size to max and playing siege battles with huge armies - especially the second scenaio might work like a slideshow. If you are sensible enough not to max out all of your settings the game should be very enjoyable and smooth

Also if you find yourself wanting a bit more power try this technique...go into your control panel, double click system, now click the advanced tab,now under performance click settings, once again click advanced, now where it says virtual memory, click change, this option will allow you to use some of the space on your hard drives as a page file, making it so your application will use it as if it were RAM,just click custom size and type in the amount you wan used at the minimum and the amount at the max and you are done, set and saveso essentially you can have as much additional ram as you have space on your drive, but keep in mind that too much could possibly have adverse effects on the speed of the drive you are taking the memory from. Also, dont think of this as a replacement for genuine Hard ram, just think of it as an extra boost in between

I would not recommend adjusting the page file as a substitute for RAM. Just set (and leave) the page file at 1.5 times (both the min and max) the physical memory. That should be sufficient. Setting the page file higher than 3 times the physical memory will slow your machine down like hell, so take the post above with a grain of salt...

Don't be cheap: get another gig of RAM. They won't burn a hole in your wallet anymore.

I suppose you should consider all sides, but from my experience I have suffered zero slow down, but then again,I do have 4 gigs of physical ram,so that might have a bit to do with it,but even then,I have seen several other examples of page expansion that helped rather than hurt performance, regardless of the level of ram present.

It does help performance when your system is in desperate need of RAM. But the performance boost you gained in "several other examples" would be dwarfed by the boost you would have gained by sticking in another RAM module.

Remember that access times on hard disks are measured in milliseconds. RAM access times are measured in nanoseconds. 1 millisecond is 1,000,000 nanoseconds!

much agreed that page expansion should only be used when in desperate need,i would never solicite this as an answer or alternative to more ram.It was just being offered up as a quick fix in the interim, nothing more.
