Default weird animal I cannot find

I remember seeing what looked like a giant underwater roach when I was younger, at what was then the Camden Aquarium in New Jersey. Other people remember this too, but none of us remember what it was really called. What the hell was this?

If so it was a horseshoe crab.

Nah, I've seen plenty of horseshoe crabs in my life.

This was white, and looked like a 2 foot longs cockroach.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_isopod might be more what he was thinking of. Though they're not really that roachlike, more like a slater (woodlouse).

    Interesting growth phenomena:

The young isopods emerge from the marsupium as miniatures of the adults, known as manca. This is not a larval stage: the manca are fully developed, lacking only the last pair of pereopods. A brooding female is at risk of losing her eggs if she overindulges in food to the point of bloating.

Never heard of 'manca' before - must check that.
