White Room - Cream - You couldn't possibly get any better than this... The bass, the guitar, the percussion, it all combines into a furious musical orgasm. It was from there that I went on to discover the other wonders of their discography.
A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum - I was never really a fan of organ music before I discovered Procol Harum. It was probably that instrument and Brooker's voice which hooked me.
Epitaph - King Crimson - To be honest, I didn't like KC at all when I first listened to them. I was still too used to the poppy sounds of The Beatles and The Kinks. But the second time around, I came back to this song and was blown away by the Mellotron and Lake's vocals.
I Looked Away - Derek and the Dominos - After announcing to my dad that I adore Cream, he told me they suck and 'Derek and the Dominos are a far superior band'. He gave me their one and only studio album and as 'I Looked Away' is the first track, it was the first song I heard by them.
Roundabout - Yes - (Much thanks to Lord Rahl for introducing me to them). I thought at first that Anderson (the vocalist) was a twelve-year-old who hadn't hit puberty, his voice was so unusually high compared to what I had listened to. I also couldn't understand what he was saying so I resolved to ignore that and instead revel in the wonderous sounds of Squire's bass and Wakeman's organ solos.
Now do tell me all about your memories!
