Default Mongols give in to catholic pressure

I have been playing as the Danes for a while now and am up to about 1360. I have taken Jerusalem from the Mongols and are literally fighting to stay alive against their arrowed every turn onslaughts.

I am currently am allied with almost every European power and the Pope loves me. The Mongols were at war with all of them due to a crusade on Gaza still in force but not very successful. I got sick of trying to fight them so I thought I would settle with Jerusalem and ally with them.

They were so keen to ally they literally gave me three settlements in return for the alliance! I was shocked to say the least.

Could this be because of the
    - Crusade
    - So many of my allies causing a ceasefire amongst all of my allies and the Mongols. (When you ally with a faction that is at war with another one of your allies, they make peace)
    - My diplomat is 10+stats and has literally called off every war that has started in the first turn with talking to the Mongol leader straight away before any damage can be done, he is housed outside the Mongols capital full time for this.

What do you think could explain the crazy offer, they would hammer me in a battle and they knew that because they always had stacks everywhere thru the Jerusalem region. And then this offer.... Wow!

Hmm... only thing close i have seen was when i beat Egypt extremely badly in a battle (2000 killed 2200 captured + 2 generals with a total of 16 of my men lost) and they lost Cairo to boot... the next turn i came to them seeing if they wanted peace... i got 3 settlements off them then the next turn since i didn't want to keep fighting them i got an alliance for i think 1 more settlement... not sure why they did that.... but i sure wasn't going to complain.

Constant ceasefires called. Everytime the Mongols declared war I could call a ceasefire before they could go thru with their sieges mate. Gaining stats as he went and he had to travel from Denmark so on the way he gave tribute to lots of factions.

Funny thing about my scenario is that they had 3 full stacks within striking distance of Cairo.... and their strength measure was at very strong or strong i think..

I was definetly weaker then them. Maybe the Mongols got sick and tired of fearing the whole world coming down on them so they allied with me to get at least half the world ceasefired. Not sure if the AI could comprehend that strategy.
