    Default Help with a crash?

Edit: Problem resolved! Not editing body of post for posterity.
Edit2: I spoke too soon. see bottom.

If you're even in this thread I assume you are here to help me, so let's get started.
    OS: Vista
I installed Vanilla, and then the 1.2 patch.

    I then installed gold.

I run the RomeTW exe. it runs, resizes my screen to 1024x768, displays the copyright screen, then CTDs

I'm willing to work with you to solve my problem, I'm not just saying "solve my problem kthx". If you have a suggestion that might work, please don't be shy. Thanks again for taking the time to try and help me. If you need any more info, please ask!

Edit: Problem was solved; RTW was unzipping to program files/activision/rome - total war. It needs to unzip to program files/The Creative Assembly/rome-total war
Edit2: I boot up. I get the RTR copyright screen. Then it freezes at the copyright screen. if I press any key, I get a CTD.
Edit3:Okay, I can now get to the main menu. I ended up going to RTR plat. However, I now crash whenever I start a campaign. I seem to remember a post about crashes like that, gonna go look for the post.

Make sure you have the 'show_err' switch on your shortcut - this should display any errors that are 'trapped' within the code (filename not found etc). Note: not all CTDs get an error message.

Have you deleted the map.rwm file before you launched the campaign? It's in the readme, I believe.

Yeah, it's all good now. Took about 4 installations and a gig of patch downloads, but holy hell RTR is worth it. I have the box set, and I didn't realize it comes with patches up to 1.5. Ended up going plat.
