Some new ideas...

Salvete Senators of the Republic.

I had some ideas on how to make the running of the Republic even smoother than before;
I propose instead of having all motions and ideas tossed to a single thread,the Curia Iulia,as was thus far,to add more threads so that we can discuss each issue on its own;

1)Curia Iulia-->The official announcements and motions for anything that goes on in the Republic.
2)Comitatia Curiata--->The assembly of the social classes,here can we can discuss the laws and how to update the constitution.
3)Comitatia Legata--->The assembly of the Legates,here we can discuss all matters of war and tactics against the foes of Rome.
4)Comitatia Popula--->The assembly of the Populi,here we can discuss all things that affect the populace of Rome(taxes,army recruitment,colonization of foreign provinces etc.)

Feel free to propose alternations or to condemn the ideas!

The ideas are good, they will be discussed more though when the constitution is written.

I also think that (depending on how many participants we may have) we should create new positions in the middle of workloads i.e. Praetors of these courts!

Maybe even having more offices up for votes;Thus all would be participating in something to forward Roman Rule!Its for the Good of the Republic!

I suggest something of the like in the De Republica thread. Actually, amazingly similar but without the latin names. So I like it.....I think.

Very nice, Gracchus. I like these ideas. I'm wondering if this will confuse new members a bit, but I'd say its worth a try. If it doesn't work, we can just go back to the old system.

We can make "A look this first" thread were the new members will be instructed in the ways of the senate... Where they can post what,where to go and vote or put up a vote,generally anything the new members will like to know.

Okay now that we have the poll open we have to finish this constitiution. Please bring this up in the De Republica thread, which has for some reason become where we are writing it.

i like the ideas. would bring a little more order to the senate.

ooc: i have been wondering how a person does a filibuster in a forum... is it possible? not at this, but for things that a group of people really dont like?

I had that idea when I drafted the minority protection act, but that would really just get the whole senate mad at said group and would probably be more detrimental to your cause anyway.

Has anyone mentioned or touched the notion about expanding a Senior & Junior Consul's term?

Yeah I was under the impression it would be expanded to two weeks. It seems like a long time, but to those of us who have been senior consuls, you know how tight the schedule is.

I felt like I never got into the flow of running the republic. The LRRA law almost caught me off guard every turn as every move and recruitment had to be in accordence to the law.. And now with a soon-to-come constitution things is going to be harder, so an expanded term will be for the good of all and the AAR.

But Winter, to those of us who haven't been consul...it's a long time to wait. Unless of course, a sensible time limit ingame is set for the Consul. Otherwise half the game will be over by the 4th consul.
