They're not new, they've been around for years. And again, they're just boring. Heartless, soulless, singing about the angst they felt while reading Interview With the Vampire, every band and their mum is doing it now.

I'm not for a minute suggesting that I know everything, I'm just voicing my opinion, as you are yours.

So, IN MY OPINION, The Who/The Rolling Stones/Led Zeppelin/Deep Purple/David Bowie/The Beatles/Cream/Queen top everything you listen to.

    IN MY OPINION.

    And some fact aswell.

    Add to that.

Daft Punk/Tool/Black Sabbath/Prodigy and a plethora of others.
Not the same genre but still better.

Arguably you fit into the other cliche of following the well beaten horse of classic rock which everyone seems to prick and prod with spiked bats and crackling electrodes whenever someone from the new rock movement (which I must concur spouts boiling feces as well) raises a hand to spank its monkey off.

If I had to chose between the two evil though, I'd have to go with classic rock any day. Seriously Swing Swing was the ONLY good song by the AARs. and WTF is up with AFI? I mean cut that effing self-righeous self loathing attitude no one cares. Cut your effing hair and get a real job so you can stop hogging up the airtime from real musicians. Yeah I went there.

And while we're at it Linkin Park, you're a band of talented musicians, but at what point can you stop following the tried and tested formula of righting generic drum loop, incorporating a guitar loop and building up to rap part and then scream part and then bridge to climax? I mean seriously we've heard it 12 times in each album, do you have to put out the same fricking drivel over and over in repackaged plastic to prove the point that you've still 'got it' like some frisky old senile gentlemen? Well at least he wont remember the god awful banality the next morning.

I try to avoid that stereotype as much as possible. I don't just sink into a fit of rage and snobbishness every time a new band comes on the radio. I have given these bands like MCR, Green Day, and AAR a chance, but they just don't do anything for me. Even though Swing Swing is actually a really catchy song.

I was just kidding (and trying to step on a few toes). I like Green Day's old stuff quite a bit, but most classic rock-especially bluesy rock- is just plain good. There are no other words for wholesome goodness on that level. Especially the blues-rock from Southern America. Man that **** is good.

You mean like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lynyrn Skynyrd, and ZZ Top?

    Abso-bloody-lutely.

    That's because your "13".

    That'll change.

Why do you think there are no 20 years olds at Green Day concerts, just children....with their parents.

    In the mean time.

    Listen to this.

I remember when Swing Swing came out, great song. The next release...not so much.

@OP--I once liked these bands when I was your age, but looking back at my tastes I can't figure out why I was into that sort of music...

You'll come around. I don't really enjoy classic rock--yeah I know the songs and I appreciate them on occasion, but it's not my style. There's a lot of different sorts of music, you'll find your niche sooner or later.

AAR used to be good, as well as a couple of the bands you've listed like AFI and Greenday. But then they all went EMO, decided their lives are horrible, and sing about crap.

Classical rock is still good, and you can never get too much of it. But, that being said, I don't listen to it all the time, which is comparably better compared to my time with AAR and Greenday.
