    lol wtf , wacko bug.
How did you even notice that? I never, EVER, check the ages etc. out. The last time I checked that family table thing was several months ago. It's useless tbh.

That's what I thought to. Playing as the Byzantines in SS 5.0 yesterday I had a prince appear who was called "Alexander the Bastard". On closer inspection he had the trait "Bastard Son" or something like that. I suspect that's the case here.

First time I've ever seen it.

It happened to me once. The spanish king's wife gave birth to a son onl after she died...after about 5 years of her death!
It happens bcause based upon the controlled provinces game limits the number of your family member.

thats one thing I find strange this controlling the number of generals occording to the amount of provinces you own.

that always leads to 3rd generation not having children....
    quite stupid,
or that some Generals never marry.....
also that whole princess thing becomes at a certain point useless because they are unable to get enough experience to at least a normal chance of having children....

a bit more dynamic and realism in the family tree would be nice...
and the possibility to choose the heir of the emperor, like it was in ME1
with the possibility that the former hire could start a revolt against you... that was always fun

There is an explanation however. I am Greek and we know that emperor Manuel had no son of noble birth till very old. In order to have someone to succeed him he had many affairs with other women including many children not from his original wife. What he wished was a noble son to fulfill the AIMA(BLOOD in Greek)
prophecy meaning ALEXIOS-JOHN-MANUEL-ALEXIOS. All greek emperors from komnenian dynasty

I have even seen in my crusades campaign a girl to be born when the emperor's wife is dead. However i don't know if it is a bug or what CA wanted

Its simply rather a bug, or the working mechanism of the game.

thats y u cant, or shouldn't, mod family members to live much longer then they already do, cuz u run into a problem where people dont have any kids, and then all of the sudden some generals die or u get some new lands and kids pop out everywhere.

actually, considering that the only children he has that r of age r princesses, it may very well be the game recognizing his affairs to try to get a male heir.
