Default anyway to truly support top end resolutions?

i just got a new monitor, i'll skip with the details but the native resolution is 1680x1050x32, everything else except the 16bit version looks weird and horribly wrong.
out of the three games i've tested, only RTW has had aesthetic issues. the menu is a bit stretched but i honestly dont care about the menu. the strategy map and the battle map are also fine, however the interface in both situations are messed up. the building cards in the strategy map are way too pixelated and stretched, as are the unit cards in the battle map.

is there some form of mod or customization tool to better this? or am i forced to play like this?

BTW im certainly not blaming CA, this game is aging after all.

edit: hmm, this probably belongs in the basement. mods, make the call.

You might try the widescreen option in graphics options.

thanks! cant believe i missed the obvious. however i'm seeing little to no change.

heres an example: notice how the cities and terrain/mountains/models are fine, but the interface is pixelated and stretched as well as the settlement text information (with the loyalty face indicators)

i have a widescreen monitor, its native resolution is 1680x1050. i've tried good ol' 1024x768, but everything under the native resolution is pixelated and/or distorted.
other games have worked fine with the resolution, and RTW has partly worked, except these stretched out parts that are annoying me.

Thanks for that, sorry for hi-jacking your post WaynehMarls, back to topic, I also use a large screen (19" Widescreen) and find myself using the 1024x768 resolution on the campaign map, I don't see any real reason to have a different resolution then this TBH - it look's exactly the same as 1440x900x32 just w/o the stretched cards.

well the bigger the resolution the more detailed things are.. i.e a hoplite's armor looks more real, but i find these stretched out unit cards and interface really annoying.

mine is a 22" widescreen but every other res other than its native res (1680x1050) looks way too pixelated..

    im lost

Ah, I see your point, but theres not much you can do about that other then having the graphics settings on full and the resolution on 1024x768 if you want normal cards.

The interface is a low resolution image file. It's always going to look pixelated on a widescreen, and short of redesigning it, there's not much you can do about that
