    Default Historical Battle Suggestions

We would like to include historical battles that were important during the Rise of Persia. I came up with these battles - but there are probably many more (Persia vs. Babylon or Egypt would be nice, but haven't looked for information regarding these).
We'd appreciate any help regarding armies used, battle tactics and whatsoever. For the Thymbra battle we have alot of information already - though the others still need (realistic) input.
If anyone is very skillful with creating Historical Battles, or knows someone who is willing to help, that'd be greatly appreciated as well (would give us some time to use for other features)

So far I came up with these battles:
    Battle of Pteria
    Battle of Thymbra
Battle of Naxos (I and II?)
    Battle of Marathon
    Battle of Thermopylae

    So I'd say suggest away

Battle of marathon might be in ,But Battle of Thermopylae is definitely out of your mod's timeframe ,isn't? Else you're going to grab people's interest with that

Well people specifically asked for the battle of Thermopylae, and it took place just 10 years after the end date of our mod, so I included it in the list. But i don't know if we got the right units to be able to recreate the battle...

Battle of Thymbra – 546 BC
Cyrus does not return home, rather he invades Lydia on the heels of his victory at Pteria. Croesus manages to gather an army to meet the Persians, amazingly larger than the one he had at Pteria. Included are the magnificent Lydian cavalry and Egyptian allies. To defeat the far superior cavalry of the Lydians, the Persians form a square with their pack camels in front of their lines. The horses smell the camels and become uncontrollable. As the Lydian army wraps around the square, gaps appear in the wings through which the Persians surge. The Lydians retreat into their capital city of Sardis, while the Egyptians are offered separate peace terms by Cyrus.

I dont think so.. you have the proper units
im sure you have the proper spartan hoplites...
also you have the necessary persian units. Immortals, Skirmishers, Archers, Cavalary.
Seems like the battle would work.

Have read the other battle summaries as well - this could be a quite useful guideline.

Don't trust the one on Thymbra. Its based off Xenophon's fictional interpretation.

Yes, but of course there were more units under Leonidas' command than just the 300 spartans as in the movie We don't have any Tegeans, Corinthians, Thespians, Thebans etc - though we could of course just pick other greek units we have already to represent those during the battle..

Could use the Athenians? They were their...cept they fought in a naval battle..
Maybe Greek hoplites that are generic looking. The other Greeks were in the movie 300...they just got more showing time in comic book and not the movie.

Heres some battles not involving Greeks, could give more variety

605 BC - Battle of Carchemish: Egypt and Assyria vs Babylon
585 BC - Battle of Halys: Lydia vs Medes
538 BC - Battle of Opis: Persia vs Babylon

I agree, these battles should be in.

Nero666, could you tell us which historical battles will be appearing in the next release?

Definitely the battle of Pasargadae, or otherwise something for the conquest of Media. And it might be fun to have the (possibly fictional) battle between Cyrus and the Massagetae/Scythians.
