Icon5 Hot Seat mode and Renaming

Hey people, is there a way to enable hot_seat mode for EB 0.81? I am trying to recreate a historical game of the rise of Rome to the Empire but many of the other kingdoms like Parthia have died off instead of rising to the fore...Seleucids are so darn strong and Pontus and the two Gaulish kingdoms are also weak and static...A hot seat mode would allow me to create Parthia as a powerful kingdom to eventually challenge Rome in the East...How do I do this? Also, is there anyway besides editing the .txt file to change the names of cities and provinces in game?Like rename the Gallic provinces after they are conquered by me?:hmmm:

I can't answer the hot-seat question, but you rename cites in-game after editing EB/preferences/preferences.txt (change "EDIT_SETTLEMENT_NAMES:FALSE" to "EDIT_SETTLEMENT_NAMES:TRUE"). This is not recommended however, since it will confuse the EB script and mess up several scripted features.

Why are you still playing 0.81 BTW?

It allows you to play with multiple factions, yes. I just found an old thread at the Org from someone who tried to get the hot-seat script to work with EB. He managed to get it working, but I am not convinced by his assertion that it is bug-free. I imagine that without adaptation the governement system would not work properly. You can find the thread here.

Yeah, hotseat mod doesn't work due to the government resource placements.

And renaming cities will mess up your game.

    Sorry.

Just out of curiosity, why doesnt it work? Aside from you saying about the government buildings, does it cause a crash or something? -Leon

I haven't played it myself, but I imagine it would work. However, all factions but the starting one wouldn't be able to build type I and II governements in the correct places because the homeland/expansion markers are distributed correctly for the starting faction only.
