IBFD II!

Hey guys, I was checking some other threads out and I found The gathering Storm mod project for MTWII. they have a few units in their thread and they look good (those MTWII graphics are nice!). This made me think that IBFD certainly has the capacity to be the best MTWII mod during that time frame (no offenses intended to the GS team) if they go over that engine. I understand that Ramon, Mylae and company have their own lives and maybe they are not interested in modifying medieval, but perhaps if I push them just a little bit (in the kindest possible way, of course ) and you IBFD lovers help me, we can get that dream come true. So, WHO WANTS IBFD FOR MIITW?

I want too, but can't play MTW2 either with my pc and laptop. It took 20 mins just to load the battle map. At every possible lowest settings, it will take an hour to finish a battle consist of less than 100 men, both me and enemy.

I think it is a great idea, but either they start right now or they better wait for Empire Total War. EB or RTR (don't remember which one) is already being ported to M2TW.

Hi IW. I know that EB is being ported (not sure about RTR), but the thing is their time frame is roughly between 270 b.C and 14 AD, while IBFD runs from 410 AD on. So they will not overlap each other.

Agree with Ijontichy Watanabe, but it should (if they start now) be ported to the Kingdoms expansion instead of the Vanilla version. It contains more features, like permanent forts, that certainly would add to the gameplay.

By mentioning the EB porting issue I meant that it could be interesting to take a look to what they are doing, there is a lively discussion at their forum about the opportunities and difficulties that M2TW-Kingdoms offers for modding, and it looks very very promising IMHO.

IMO I think all of the IBFD teams (Rio etc) should, instead of beginning to mod MIITW IBFD II from scratch, they should join up with the gathering storm, in order to crate an AMAZING experience

Hey Marcus Tullius Cicero, Thanks for your participation. Your idea doesn't sound bad to me, but we'll have to wait for their opinion. I, for one, will support the team whether they decide to move to IBFD II on their own or join another team. I just want to encourage them to bring their (IMO) amazing skills and talents to an upgraded engine.

YES! Hope they do it. Actually, the IBFD team should pull off a EB move where the EB team joined up with a promising Ortus Romani team. Put their heads together you know. IBFD should really get into talks with the Gathering Storm team. It would be great!!

situation between EB/Ortus Romani and IBFD/The Gathering Storm is a bit different. Ortus Romani was a completely brand new project, The Gathering Storm has a more 'illustrious' pedigree. The people behind it are the same people who were working on the now defunct 'Imperia Romana', the project for w/c Atilla Reloaded actually made the Roman skins, so you can say IR is actually the 'estranged father' of IBFD. There have been problems in the past, esp between AR and the IR team, but I hope those issues do not extend to the current IBFD team (and I think not, as there have been some very productive collaboration in the past)

'working together/assisting/helping each other' these are very doable and very desirable, as far as I am concerned; but a 'merging' ala EB/OR? would u ask EB to scrap EB2 and become Ortus Romani? nor would I be so presumptuous as to ask them to merge with IBFD2.
