I have a problem. . .
no matter what faction i play, i ALWAYS target Milan first. . . all because they backstabbed me the first time i played. . . i always try to kill them before really focusing on anyone else. . .![]()

when i play as the Scots i wipe out the rebels quickly than the British...than i build up and start invading france...lol by thta time France is hated..
In War Its Dosn't Mater Who's Right, But Instead Whos Left.Going Down In Flames
is it just me, or is france in a bad spot to be invaed by EVERYONE from EVERY angle?
But anyways, as the scots, i love to take rebels, then wipe out English, Danes, then france. . . then after those HATE milans. . . after that, i just swing towards the Iberians, africa, and then HRE, THEN holy land. . . .:laughing:the scots in the holy land, who ever heard of such a thing
Whats interesting in my game (H/H as Denmark) is that France is doing really well and milan instead of its usual supremacy is doing not so well. For what ever reason milan went east instead of west like every other campaign. They took Venice and then Zagreb and the other Venetian territories. Now they have stalled in a large scale war with Byzantium and France looks to be ready to Take Genoa and Milan from them any turn now. They also have the HRE breathing down their necks, all the while being excommunicated. I am tempted to call a Crusade on Venice to really cripple them.
Its very possible that this campaign will be the first time that I don't have to rid myself of Milan because the AI will have already done it for me.

O.K., O.K., so I am only in my first M2TW game (English, M/M). But still...
I took out France and have totally surrounded Milan (which is down to 2 provinces, evidently because of a row they had with Venice). I think it is because, although many of the formerly French territories are light to medium garrison, I have a few fully staffed fortresses nearby, in newly conquered formerly-HRE land. I intend to get a few stacks with siege weapons, and pull down both extant Milanese cities in the same turn. England waits only until their new missionary priests are high enough piety to be chosen to replace the Milanese cardinals when they fall.
To answer the point of the OP's question: I attack rebels, first. After that, if playing as a 'Catholic faction' it is whoever attacks me first or gets excommunicated. For me, this game, it was France who drew me into a war, by attacking.

Milan must benefit from auto-resolve in some way and that is the cause of their supremacy.
LOL, Make that 0% !! About five game turns after I wrote that, Milan attacked. I'm a believer...Originally Posted by NobleNick
Dijon is the critical province; whoever gets it first tends to do well. It really messes up French borders and defenses if Milan gets it; if the French get it they can generally then solidify their southwest and southeast sides, take back Normandy, and turn into a power. If not Milan eventually plunges some stacks into the breach and has a great chance of grabbing Marseilles.
As for me, I never target anybody. I grab rebel provinces, try and form alliances that will secure peace, and build up infrastructure until somebody attacks. Then I know who my first target is.

Sometime for fun, i like to start an english or HRE campaign, play it calm until the first crusade to Cairo and avoid fighting anyone but the smaller rebel states. Make friends with everyone you can the more the better. When the crusade is called i turn down taxes, load the ships with everything and i mean everything and go to the holy land.
First i take Cairo and get experience bonus, i then raise everything to the ground and give the city to the pope as a gift. Then alexandria, then the next settlement and so on.
I only stop when i get thrashed or start running out of units, each settlement taken is given to a different neighbour of my home territory as a gift to keep up relations and avoid them invading me while i am off destroying egypt. As a bonus my neighbours go bankrupt trying to protect or improve the settlements far off from thier lands (keep milan weak)
There is great satifaction bringing home a stack of gold chevron units and a massive pot of gold without having to cheat. You get some odd results later on as well as the balance of power in the region is shot to bits.
There are two kinds of officers, sir: killin' officers and murderin' officers. Killin' officers are poor old buggers that get you killed by mistake.
Murderin' officers are mad, bad, old buggers that get you killed on purpose - for a country, for a religion, maybe even for a flag!
Who I take out first depends on what faction I am playing. If I am playing HRE, France or Sicily, Milan dies first as a moral imperative. If I am playing England, Scotland gets it first unless France begs me to kill them. If I am playing Milan I take France out first. If it is the Templars (KoJ), Egypt takes the first hit. It all depends on the starting location.
I always aim for France, Why? honestly I don't know...:smileybri :smileybri :smileybri
I also Aim for MILAN, because Genoa and Milan are very rich cities and will Boost your economy in the 'early' period.![]()
I'm playing as Hungary, and I always go for those Byzantines.
I have as yet to see Milan evolve into a powerhouse ( so far they always get beaten up either by France or Venice ).
