    Default Where's the Falchion

one of the most common unnightly backup weapons of the later middle ages its ( afaik ) a complete nonshow in MTW II ( Vanilla or Kingdoms ) .
IMHO it would fit as a secondary weapon for missile inftr. better then tier 2.

Is that like the poor man's version of the sword? Yeah that would have been good to see, but everyone who has spears in games usually they should have a falchion like item, but they never use it. Most of the archers have a stupid knife or something like that.

well the knife is the side arm of the 1st and 2nd tier missile inf. others have swords

yeoman actually have hammers as a secondary weapon, this makes them good against armor in ranged and melee combat.

Considering that the swords the Noble units have are not historically accurate (they look more like Migration Period swords and medieval blades) i was not suprised to find it missing, It would be nice to see my Yeomen archers hacking at french knights with Falchion but alas.... Semi proffesional or proffesional Archers whould have decent back-up weapons, only a peasent/serf levy would use a short knife in battle. Knives are a good weapon for a tight melee but soldiers wouldnt use them at first there more a back-up for the back-up.

Eh? The knife is alright I think. Better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick.

therewould be hundreds of other weapons to add in but i guess it would just end up confusing.

but still, that was a fairly common weapon.

Maybe we should change this into an 'What fairly common weapons are missing or underepresented' thread - dear admins if you feel that such a thread wuld rather belong in the mods section feel free to move it.

I miss - or think they are underrepresentated:

1st A bigger variety of Pole Arms
    - the Goedendag
    - the 2H Flail
    - the Glaive
    - generally more forms of halberds and bills
    - the Spetum

2nd A bigger variety of 2H Swords ( other then just the bigand very distinct Renaissance 2H Swords )
    - Longsword
    - Greatsword
    - Claymore

    3rd The Falchion
    4th The Horsemans Pick

All in all it would be far more realistic if the weopons used would vary more in a unit.
Example1: Pole Militia a mix of Halberds, Glaives, Spetums and Flails
Example2: Feudal Knights some with axes, some with picks some with swords ... ( give them armor piercing if the majority of the weapons used is ap )

This is an awesome idea! Also put a lean on the mix dependant on faction and how advanced the settlement they were recruited in. maybe even regional variations.
