My reinforcements are silent!

Hi, I reported this in the Kingdoms Forum as well, but I am no longer sure if it is a kingdoms bug.

The problem is, that all reinforcements that come from the border of the map in the battle are totally mute in my game (no marchin sound, no voice commands). Is anyone else experiencing this, or I am the only one? Does anyone have a fix for this?

Please somebody check it out, and report back to me, since I am starting to believe, I am the only one experiencing this.

To test it: Let 2 armies with only 1 infantry unit each besiege a castle (both should siege it). In the following turn, the army in the castle will sally out and attack you. Then you will have one unit come into from the border of the map. Control it yourself, and see if it has marching sound and if you hear voice commands, when ordering them something.

Yep it has happened to me all the time for M2TW. I never played Kingdoms. But reinforcements have no 'sound' 100% of the time.

I have no idea tbh. Its a damn stupid bug thats for sure. Sometimes I like attacking a small stack next to a heavily garrissonned settelment to draw them out and since most of the battle would be with the reinforcing garrison they are completely mute!

I really don't understand why no one ever mentoined this. For me, it is a game breaking bug, and usually the forum is filled with bug reports. I searched the whole forum, yet didn't find a single post about reporting this. This is even more scary, since it obviously exists since R:TW (I found ONE post on this topic at the official Total War Forums).

I think this is a major flaw, and I really hope will be adressed in a patch.

Could everyone please report this to CA?

I don't have that bug. Maybe it's got something to do with the soundcard you are using, icw the drivers used.

Thanks for the report Quink.NL, I'll try updating my sound drivers...

Quink.NL: Are you sure you tested properly though? Keep in mind, that I am only talking about reinforcements that enter the battle map from the border of the map...

Could be your using an older card that doesn't support enough sound channels? Best guess i could think of.

Edit: Or maybe u are using onboard sound?

6 channels ADI 1980/1985 software audio codec
- Compliance with AC97 v2.2 Spec (for 1980) / PC99 v2.3 Spec (for 1985).
- Meet PC2001 audio performance requirement.
- Can support SPDIF Out via SPDIF-Bracket only.

Thats my motherboard (on which the soundcard is):
875P Neo-LSR/ FIS2R
It is from MSI.

Hey Mailor. The fact that I didn't have the bug was because I never noticed. I tried it yesterday, and you are totally right: reinforcements are silent. No orders, no marching, no weapon sounds, nothing...

My previous mainboard had a Realtek onboard sound device, which worked pretty well for me, and I never had the silent reinforcements (at least I didn't notice). I bought a new mainboard recently, and that one has the Soundmax too. I already wasn't to happy about it and was thinking of a Creative soundcard, but now this issue has come up, I'll definitely going to get one.

Quink.NL: hmmm... Sad to hear that. but it seems to be a problem with onboard soundcards. keep me informed, if it works with your new soundcard, if you have it. maybe I'll buy me another soundcard as well then.

I'll keep you posted. I ordered it together with a pre-ordered 8800GT. This videocard is not yet deliverable in Holland, so it might take a week or two before I'll have both the sound- and videocard. I'll PM you when I have them.
