Teuton Order = worst Infantry in Game?

What the hell is wrong with the Teuton Order?

I used one unit of these top Infantry Knights and was beaten by 2 Units of Lithunian Peasanst, PEASANTS!

Next time I used them a complete unit was killed by a single spearman unit of the danes....

that might be becouse if you played with dism. Rittenbrudder have only 30 units (i think) and peasants have 60 if playing against 2 it will be 2x60=120 (yes i know maths)...

if 120/30=4

this means each rittenbruder has to kill 4 it means it's 4 enemies to each rittenbruder this will affect morale when their number is cutted to half (15) [it will eventually happen]....and that's it

If they were real Spartans with killer abs then it would be possible.

btw, peasants have 75 soldiers in M2TW, so 75 x 2 / 30 = 5:1. I'm not sure Ritterbruders come in packs of 30 though, do they?

Holy **** I can't lose with Order infantry. You obviously ****ed up somehow lol. Were they tired, scared or fighting uphill?

I realy don't know how you manage to do this. I tried a few custom battles (VH), and each time the knights would eat peasants for breakfast
I even tried upgrading peasants' weapon, armor and experience. It didn't help.

After thinking a while (just read the post) I think that those Ritterbuders must have been tired while the Lithuanian peasants were fresh. Then the peasants when fighting, started to surround the Ritterbruders, the rest of the history is quite obvious.

@ Lost Crusader: testing custom battles can't recreate accurately Chlodwig I Ritterbruders' situation, maybe the knights were really tired, they didn't have good morale at the moment and others factors that I'm missing.

You have a point. They were probably tired, especially since the OP said that it was a siege battle.
I guess I should have ordered them to run a few laps around the battlefield before engaging in melee

maybe the dismounted Ritterbrüder have been tired, both scenes have happend in siege battles
can't remember to be true so at least they haven't been fresh

but somehow its a bit....
I got often high casualties with the half brothers(?) and the Ritterbrüder and often a very low kill ration, so they doesn't feel so superior
also this frightening infantry, seems not realy working, can't tell if the enemy is more likely to flee

i tried to play it in costum battle with 1 rittenbrudder (my troops) against 2 peasants

in the 1st battle i won
in the 2nd i lost

i also tried to play disabeling (bad spelled) morale in the med2tw preferences.jpg (or something like this) and guess what i beat them without any problem (3 times)

morale is a factor that makes the battles soo cool expecially when playing VH/VH (i do play it)

I think the spartans only killed that much in thermopylae because they filledd up the entire canyon and made it impossible to flank if youre not speaking about 300 spartans or its a myth that they killed so much and they only survived for very long...

The 300 Spartans who fought in that battle were, if I recall correctly, accompanied by 1000-1500 other Greeks when they made their last stand.

Also, Ritterbruders are 60 men a unit, so it was actually just a little over 2:1 people in the battle... I'm not really sure how you actually managed to lose. Guess they were exhausted or something?

The other greeks retreated and the spartans and leondias fought to get the others safe home, the greeks would have lost this battle and would have no chance so the spartans were ordered to hold so that the rest could get to safety after what I have heard.

Well the spartans fought with as far as I remember more then 3000 other Greeks to slow down the Persians so that a armya of all Greek city states could merge and move to fight the Persians later.

So this whole 300 Movie is just a piece of fiction and has nothing and absolutly nothing to do with the real Battle fought there.

There isn't really much left to discuss here... We've concluded that Ritterbruders eat just about all other infantry types for breakfast and that they probably lost because they were tired or something. Until/if Chodwig gives any more detail there isn't much to say on that subject... I personally never lost Ritterbruders to peasants/spearmen.

And about 300, the battle part is really exaggerated but not fiction. First the Greeks + the Spartans fought to hold off the Persians, then they got flanked and most of the Greeks retreated but the Spartans and about 1000 other Greeks (so far I've seen the number vary from 700 to 1500) stayed and fought to the death.
