The second chance

After almost one year I'm going to give Medieval 2 the second chance. I gave up at first attempt because of bugs, then I suffered a big dissapointment from the update 1.2, but still I'm ready to try again (nothing else out there ).


So, as I'm back in business, I've got few questions, please make me a summary I dont feel like reading whole forums for this:

- patch 1.3 is ok with Medieval? I mean it fixes units chaos on walls, passive AI etc?
- does Kingdoms worth it? If I buy Kingdoms, the old bugs are fixed?
- what is new in Kingdoms (basically)?
- what are the best mods for Medieval 2 (vanilla)?

Patch 1.3 makes Medieval Classic compartible with Kingdoms in the matter of multiplayer. The Retrofit mod adds alot from Kingdoms into the Grand Campaign (look it up)

Kingdoms adds alot of new stuff, but not to Original game. I think, it has been worth it.

Interesting events (Kalmar Union / Hanseatic League / Barons' Revolt / alot more), units, unit-stats changed (archers: weaker defence / killer at range . Cavalry: Fewer units, but charges better into the enemy) and ofcourse alot of new Factions

- what are the best mods for Medieval 2 (vanilla)?
A matter of individual opinion to be honest...but The Sicilian Vespers, Stainless Steel and Lands to Conquer come to mind for me at least. (Broken Crescent is still in development and looks promising)
