    Icon6 Hard/Hard and AI's activity?

    Hello there

    For almost a year I have played all my campaigns with the medium/medium settings. I like turtling, and I prefer a slightly easier game to get more fun than challenge if you see what I mean

    Last week I wanted to change a bit I tried VH/VH... that was a real nightmare, highly unrealistic, the hordes of the AI comming toward me with full stacks after the 6th turn
    I gave up.

    I started a new compaign with the H/H settings now, and from what I learned from my disastrous VH/VH campaing was to defend with almost full stacks of units my settlements... but now, somehow, it seems that the AI is cautious!

    Is the computer "afraid" of me because I have more units in my castles now?
    Or will it start attacking more intensively later on (only 10 turns played)?

    they'll certainly attack you after a while, but perhaps (fortunately) not as quickly as in vh/vh..

    in rome, the H/H-VH/VH settings were essentially cheats for the a.i, giving them alot of money for nothing and putting the player at a disadvantage.

    perhaps that's changed for med2, but i still prefer m/m most of the time, too, as it's, as you said, not mayhem, and seems to run alot more slowly and realistically. good if you play on half a year per turn, too.

    maybe you should just up the upkeep for your rival nations in data/campaign/imperial campaign/desc_strat.txt ?

    then you can have all the goodness of m/m, with the rivals having alot more soldiers and more bravo.

    Get a good campaign AI mod like UAI if you haven't done so yet. H/VH has been the perfect mix for me.

    VH/VH is too easy for me

    VH/VH is too easy with most factions if you're not giving away anything.

    However, I have also observed that the computer is more cautious in higher difficulty; i.e. in H/H AI would do some "brave" stuff, while in VH/VH it waits patiently its turn to be slaughtered...
