Hello CAE players,
Lately I've been incorporating some stuff into my CAE from Kingdoms. As
you may know there are still some legality issues remain as "gray"
areas about using stuff from Kingdoms without a Kingdoms .exe..
The purpose of this thread is to release some modifications for
Kingdoms incorporated to CAE's grand campaign.. How will this be
achieved? Basically by a semi-modding system which the hard parts
belong to me and the easy part belongs to the player.Elaborating the
easy part, basically copy and paste business following my directions.
The hardest part is for me as I said, I'll attach or if need be release
as an incorporation mini-mod basically text files containing the
necessary codes for CAE..
I'm sure there are among you,who wish to use some features or units,or
strat models, new castle strat models, battle models from Kingdoms and
want them to add to your current CAE..
I've started doing this for my personal use and want to share it with
CAE players who wishes to spicen up their campaigns before CAE v1.4 is
out.
Enclosing when some issues are solved,I hope to release a Kingdoms
edition of CAE...
REQUIREMENTS
Here are the requirements needed for a CAE player who wishes to add the
stuff that takes place in the Kingdoms:
1- CAE v1.3
2- Mtw2: Kingdoms Expansion
3- The Teutonic campaign files need to be unpacked.
As for starters it's sufficient that only the Teutonic Campaign files
be unpacked...
How do we accomplish that?
A- Go to the directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\tools\unpacker
B- Double-click unpack_teutonic.bat
Note:
Here one may encounter messages such as msvcr71.dll or msvcp71.dll is
missing in such a case do not panick, just go to the main directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War
And copy the required dll files from there and paste them to the
following directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\tools\unpacker
Retry double-clicking the unpack_teutonic.bat this time it will surely
work without complaints
First of all here is the result you'll get when you've completed your
own copy and paste part...
PART I- STRAT MODELS
The screenshot below is taken from the GrandCampaign of CAE..When
playing the Teutonic Order, here you'll notice that the Hochmeister have
its strat model from Kingdoms,as well as the General and Captain have
Kingdoms models:
Also note that all of your Grandmasters will be automatically using
this model once the process is completed...
Now as for your part do the following:
1- Go to the directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total
War\mods\teutonic\data\models_strat
2- Within the models_strat folder you will notice there are 18 .CAS
files..
Select one of them and press CTRL+A,this way you'll have selected the
multitude of them.
3- Now copy and paste this .CAS files to the following directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\models_strat
If you are asked to click overwrite just answer yes...
4- Go to the directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total
War\mods\teutonic\data\models_strat\textures
Now copy ALL the contents of the textures folder to the directory
beneath:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\models_strat\textures
That's all you have to do for your part.I will do my part and shortly
attach or zip here the necessary files and by pasting it to where I
instructed you will have the same result in your CAE grand campaign,as
I've displayed in the screenshot.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Some of you may think that it's unnecessary to copy all the cas and
textures,or may think that it might cause in your CAE campaing.
As for the latter do not worry I've checked this and there are no
problems nor any error in the system.log.txt and as for the copying the
whole lot of them,I had some CTD's when only copied the supposedly
necessary files,so apparently this is essential(to copying all of them)
to prevent any unpleasant CTDs...
OK here is the attachment named CAEK.zip, you need to downloadit that's
a very small 56.8 kb zip extract this to your
Programfiles/SEGA/medieval II total war folder..Click yes to overwrite
Provided that what I've instructed for your part, you'll have all the
teutonic models as well as the HRE King model:
As for the next step I'll post how to incorporate Kingdom's castles to
CAE mod.
PART II- IMPLEMENTING THE CASTLE MODELS
This is simply having the new Northern European Castles in CAE as displayed in the screenie below:
Ok here is what you have to do to have the same result in your own CAE as shown above:
1- Go to the directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\teutonic\data\models_strat
2- Find the folder named "residences" and copy-paste the folder the following directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\models_strat
Click yes to overwrite if asked.
3- This time go to the directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\teutonic\data
4- Find there the file named: descr_cultures.txt and copy paste it to this directory:
Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\CloudsAcrossEurope\data
Click yes to overwrite if asked. And that's that.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As in the strat models my attempt to have copy or modify the pinpointed files have failed as the models require certain other seemingly unrelated models to be within the folder as well,in order to work...
Again don't worry have tested for 60 turns without problems
Please give me your feedback at this THREAD,also I'll be making further updates on the tutorial.. Don't forget to download the attached CAEK.zip orelse the changes won't work...
