Default The Russian campaign is awesome

I started a new campaign as the Russians on VH/H.

You only get 1 province and some weak units in the beginning.

At first, I took the town Riga, Smolensk, then Helsinki castle and build 1 ship to take my 1 army immediatly to Stockholm. Stockholm is key because the Danes are after it as well.

After that you have a decent base to start your empire. Trie alliance with Poland, (it wont hold, but buy you some turns). Make sure that you have a strong navy to control the sea.

Russia, also has some great units. I realy love the "Dvors Cavalary", they have a nasty sting with Bow and can go toe to toe with almost anyone.

The Tzars Heavy Cavalary is also another awesome unit. Combine that with Berdick Axemen, dismounted Druzhina and Boyrs Son units and your amy becomes unstoppable.

Especially the Bedick Axmen, I havent found any other infantry unit that can go toe to toe against them and survive.

I been at war with many catholic nations like, England (trying to take STockholm), Poland, Hungary and now the might of Milan and my Russian Armys have destroyed them all thanks to those units.

Its still a long way to go for my empire, but I love playing the "russian faction", just great color and aswesome units.

The issue you have to deal with is NOT go to war with too many nations at once, your economy will sufer.

In my campaign the Hungarians and Milanese have stack after stack of armies roaming my lands and even though I am winning the battles its straining the economy.

Anyway, you should try playing the russians, there tons of fun.

The Russians are mad awesome specifically for their totally unbalanced unit roster.

You have crappy, low-tier soldiers along with HOLY CRAP AWESOME soldiers.
No middle ground. No average soldiers. Either they're lightly armored and expendable, or heavily armored, armor piercing, and with great missile/melee attack. No room for the mediocre in the Russian roster.

Meaning I struggle with a below average army at first, but by the end I'm fielding the most elite stacks you can imagine. Dismounted Dvor's with great armor and morale, the highest non-crossbow/gunpowder missile attack, and armor piercing axes. Tsar's guard.

    Jesus Christ.

I dare not play Poland unless I kill off the Russians early.

Hmm .. I got bored on my Russian campaign super-fast.

Plus, in the late game, you get butt-raped by the Mongols, the Timurids, the HRE (unless you finished them already) and the most annoying - stacks upon stacks and multitude upon multitude of Venetian, Milanese and Sicilian crossbowmen stacks from the south. Those really annoyed the crap out of me and I was forced to start a French chivalry campaign.

I agree with you on the color though, it is good.
Death be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for, thou art not so.
