No religion in Britannia?

Ive noticed that there are no priests while playing England in the Britannia campaign, you have all the usual chapels/churches/abby's etc but no priests. I havn't noticed any foreign men of religion in the campaign either, not that im bothered as I find priests a bit of a pain.
Anyone else noticed this?

Everyone was catholic in the British isles... Or a Heretic, what's the point with priests?
You have culture instead, or language or wft ever those small flags represents, way better tbh.

True, there's no religion in Britannia campaign. But the churches are still useful, as they boost your cultural influence. And of course, they raise happiness.

Culture is a great thing that they put in as people can't blitz now(unless they exterminate).

Culture also allows you to recruit the enemy's units for a certain period of time.

M2TW religion = Britannia culture. They just renamed it, as they renamed piety to management.

Yeah for all that it seems like its just a renaming, doesn't differ much in terms of actual game mechanics.

It does. If you don't have a sufficient culture level, you can't recruit units, even though you have a required buildings. On the other hand, you can recruit enemy units, if there's enough of their culture present in your settlement.
And unlike religion, which is spread by the priests, culture can spread spontaneously across the borders.

True, but only the spreading is unique to the Britannia campaign. The recruitment limit is identical to the Teutonic Order's one with their best units.

yes, the spreading is unique to Britannia campaign, but so is the culture.

Oh cool, that's good news. Would be nice to recruit enemy-type units in a settlement, but then how do you stop that settlement from becoming too much like YOUR culture? I suppose placing it on the border with your enemy is one way.
