    Default Script questions

    1. Currently, I am playing IBFD 7.03. Advisor reminds me to switch on the IB script. Any difference if I didn't switch to it?

And is it a bug or it's the script? The faction goth horde wandering around Rome sometimes taking my defended city without a fight. The army and governor of that city just walk away after the turn, then the goth takes the city. Then I move the army to city, they can again occupy it without fighting the goth. ??????????? Then I load the previous same game again, it doesn't happen again. It happened twice and I corrected it by reloading previous saved game.

    2. What is the difference between the script of 4tpy, full scripts, no scripts, and sack of rome? They got different stories and will affect the game?

Hi Chenkai11, I'll try to answer your questions,
    1. You don't have to activate the scripts but if you want to add and play the historical events included in them, I suggest you to switch them on. It's a better experience.
The "issue" you are experiencing with the Visigoths is not such. In the year 410 AD, they sacked Rome and when you have the full script or the sack of rome script on, this will happen. It's basically a recreation of a historical event.
    2. They are scripts that you can activate at will depending on what you like or not. 4tpy gives you the 4 seasons per year (i.e. 4 turns a year), sack of Rome gives you the possibility to recreate that event (4tpy is included in this script, I think), full script switch all of them on, and no scripts (well, that is obvious). They will certainly affect the game.

    Thanks for the answers.

    Just one last question.

I already started the WRE campaign. Do I have to install the full script option? Or it is already included in the IB script load by the advisor?

    By default, I think they're not activated. to switch them all, just follow these steps courtesy of Mylae's;
2- scripts are not necessary but higly recommended to play the game at the best.
3- to be sure of having installed full scripts, well, go in your RTW-BI folder, the one in which you have installed IBFD. are you there? ok.
you will notice a "ibfd" folder. open it. inside, among other, there is a folder called "options". open it. inside there are several options that the player could install ingame, divided into folder. i guess you have discovered a new world . one of theis folder is "scripts". go inside, you will find 4 .exe file. if you want to play with full scripts - they includes Sack of Rome, Sassanid Partisans, 4tpy, money refindung, hephthalite hording, etc - just clic on "full script.exe". by default, the installer should locate the destination in the root RTW folder, but keep an exe. Once installed this option, start the game, start a campaign and you will see at the very start the advisor coming up that says "INVASIO BARBARORUM CAMPAIGN SCRIPT". click on show me how and enjoy.
    I hope this works.

An additional note: Some people have experienced CTDs when the full script option is on, but I have never had one (so far, at least).

I did install the full script, and experienced CTD. But I am not sure if it is the full script causing it. Many CTD due to some graphics settings problem.

I had some strange things happening when I had the full scripts installed.
When playing the ERE, at the start of each turn all cities go on automanage although I activated manual city managing (I checked). That could be remedied by restarting the game, but only sometimes.
When playing the WRE, at the end of the first turn (goths sieging Rome), I switched sides to the ERE !? Is that intended?

that's wierd. That didn't happen to me. When visigoths sieging Rome, it will just sack rome without fighting your garrison troops. But I was not switched to ERE.

As the automanage, it happen once in one town.

I have just recently realized what is causing this. there is a script that transfers the player faction to the Goths (in order to 'capture' Rome) then returns it to the original player faction, in second turn similar thing happens but player is transferred to WRE to recapture Rome, another such script would happen ca. 8 turns later with Goths capturing Narbonensis, I just realized that doing so, when the player is returned to the original faction, the settings reverts to default (like playing for first time) w/c is why the towns are back to automanage. only thing to do here is remove those scripts (esentially the whole sack of Rome script)

absolutely not. RTW scriopts are extrrememly unstable and in some cases (systems?) they simply do not behave as expected, if u encounter problems like this I suggest u play w/outscripts or w/ 4tpy only. unfortunately, only way to fix this is to fix RTW itself.

Hm, I'd really like to know the answer to this. As it is now, I can't play the game with the full scripts option enabled...
