Default Brutish Tips to run EB on low end or Vista systems...

Seeing as EB is the only mod I cannot play... I can play SPQR on huge... RTR... Beta testing EoDII on huge...

I went out and just started messing around...

1 I realize vista is a *****... so I had to do a few run arounds... to speed it up...

    so I went here http://www.petri.co.il/tweaking_wind...erformance.htm

and did most of it... realized my comp runs fast and my favorite mods run alot smoother I decided to reinstall EB and see if it is true that it's Vista's or Rams Fault...

well nope... still wasn't working... took 10 mins instead of 15 now...

so again I went in and just started slashing what I felt wasn't needed...

    then I remembered something...

I had at one time added about 10 or 15 songs to EoD to play while in game... and EoD became unplayable... long loads... scrolling crawl... but soon speed up... similar to EB...

so I went into EB's folder and OMG saw tons of files... scattered...

well I decided... freak this i'll cut and paste into a new folder and try game without the music and voices(Both Excellent pieces of work... I almost cried doing this)

well... started EB again... loading took only a few mins...

I was sorta shocked to see the movie's pop up so fast... main menu loaded a little faster too... so I started a new campaign...

i was about to head downstairs to make a sandwich... wash the dishes and then come up as EB was in it's final stretch of loading when I heard wind... I look back... and the camp map was already loaded...

It didn't take 20 mins as usual...

Now I have no Idea... but possibly going in and taking out the sounds allowed the game to start up properly...

I am beginning to see that this mod is fantastic and no reason to change anything... but what I found allows me to play the game without the 20 min loading screens... very happy I can divert from beta testing and my SPQR campaign which has me getting my ass slowed by the useless Pontus army on my conquest toward the middle east...

this is just one thing I noticed that helped speed the game up... if you feel the game is unplayable try removing sounds *takes away from immersion * and see if that speeds it up a bit...

hope this helps a little... and if it's not that for some reason my computer is allowing me to play the game with no sound

    ::::New test:::

re added the sound and started it up again... lets just say I'm still waiting for it to load as we speak... *eating a sandwich*

    EDIT:

Ok so the improved performance wasn't too big... will do more test and i go in and find stuff on my freetime in files that are not 100 needed...

also want to note that me saying what I did and doing what I do is by no means an insult to the mod team... it's just a curious person... you guys have pretty much created a new game... it's not RTW... it's almost good enough if not good enough for it to be an expansion or something... good job

the real vista improvement is with the adition of more ram, the windows alone uses 512 mb, so if you have a 1GB memory installed, means that you really have only 512 free for the program that considering that your video card does not use the rest of it
