    Default install problems

I installed the game once before, and it worked fine. I did the 1.2 patch and had a couple of mods. The game kept shutting down every now and then, so I figured I would uninstall and install all over again, start from scratch. I removed the files, removed the sega folder, and removed everything associated with MTW 2. But when I try to install, I keep getting this error.

crc error: The file C:/program files\sega\medieval II total war\data\sounds\voice1.dat doesn’t match the file in the setup’s .cab file. The medium from which you are running the setup maybe corrupted, contact your software vendor.

I tried ignoring it, and the game played normal, but then I try the 1.2 patch, and it won't let me go any further, it automatically aborts. I looked up CRC error and tried to clean the disc of any smudges, that did not work. I even went and got another copy of the game in case it was to scratched up, but I get the same error. I found a section in the FAQ here about CRC errors, and I tried them, but they did not help either.

So please, if anyone has any idea on what to do, let me know.

    Thanks,
    Brad

If the problem is due to files on your computer having become corrupted, then you may have to reinstall the whole Windows OS to get the environment for installing certain games or programs back to working condition again. That's a time-consuming solution, but, unless you're a technical wizard, that may be the only way to go.
