    Default Spies - PreBattle Positioning

I would like to clarify this matter with your help.......

Some say that when placing a spy with your army, you can actually see were the enemy will position its forces before the battle is started. Others say it doesn't work.....

I have actually been able to see the position of an enemys army before the battle a few times. How..... I don't know!!!! Was this a bug???

Anybody could give some good info on this?????

I don't think you can see enemy positions before battle with a spy. At least it doesn't work for me.

There is one situation when you can actually see position of the enemy: when you successfully ambush them!

and when they have troops able to hide (in the woods for example) during battle, those troops are visible when you have a spy with you. which can be very viable especially when the enemy tries to flank you through the woods.

When they are trying to flank you they are MOVING. And you can see all moving units even those that are good at hiding in the woods.

I tried the "spy in the army feature" and it makes no difference whatsoever - except that it makes the general harder to kill.

As it has already been written the only time when you see (some) enemy units is with a succesful ambush.

And you also see them before battle start when you are the defender in a city/castle siege.

i would also like to point out that if you attack at night, yours and their troops carry torches. so before the battle starts you can see light on the ground and know where their army is in general.

It would be logical if you you could see their position if your army had a Spy.

Ya, I dont think you can see them generally... not when the spy is with your army... Now, if the spy is with THEIR army, i dont see why not.

i too remember seeing their position on the field once to twice before... I either had a spy there, or had something else going on... i dont remember... ill try to test this out later.

Quite simple, just send a spy into there army like you would any town/city etc.

But maybe you need to do this in the same turn as the attack.

I don't think you can actually enter an army like you would a city with your spy. he doesn't exactly disappear inside the army. Would make sense that a high level spy could reveal the enemy pre battle during unit placement. Also would be nice if you could use your own assassins to take out your own troublesome characters tho. maybe if they failed the mission the character would rebel.

I am pretty sure you can see them, you just need a good spy with high subterfuge.

Not that I know of. If you make it work, please post pics.

It would be great if the higher the subterfuge the more of their army you would be able to see though.

I am glad that I am not the only one having seen this happen! *puuuh* :-)
Maybe it was when you were defending against an army. As the attacker always takes up positions first???? I don't know... I am sure that I was attacking and I could see their positions.... maybe a bug???
