    PLease read the FAQs before posting!

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=90516

    In it you will find the following;

    03) "What Happened to the cool Druids, Onagers, Screeching Women, War dogs, etc, etc?"
    Creative Assembly did a great job appealing to the masses by introducing many "elite", "uber", and "hero" units with "special abilities". This is common for most RTS games. However, historically, armies were not composed of units of armed, chanting druids, "screeching women" were not recruited as an army unit, wardogs were not used en masse, and onagers did not tower two hundred feet in the air. RTR is a comprehensive mod that replaces every original RTW unit with thoroughly researched, historically accurate military units for each faction.

    The IMPERIAL Roman army did make use of various types of torsion weapons in guise of "field artillery", among which was also the onager. In Hellenistic times, however, their use outside siege battles is not widespread (there is a mention in Caesar, Bellum Gallicum, of him ordering his troops to dig long ditches with pallisades and towers with ballistas mounted, so as to keep the Gauls under a constant swoher of hevy missiles).

    And, anyway, the most common weapons were ballista-type (the gastrophetes in late Classical and very early Hellenistic, the ballista and the catapelte). Please note that Ballista simply means "<missile> thrower" and catapelte (Romanised as catapulta) means "shield-piercer". No indication of design implied in the names, which were, understandibly, used in a fairly lax manner.

    There's also a mention by Polybius of Machanidas, tyrant of Sparta, puting siege equipement on wagons and using them in a rather desesperate maneuvre during a field battle against Philopoemen. A battle which he lost, along with his life...

    I did post this in the original RTR forums and have left the image in photobucket. Can't remember the title of the book that I lifted it from thought.

    What patch ? There's no more versions for RTR 6 Gold which means that it's the final version of the released RTR for RTW 1.2 engine.

    If you mean RTR Platinum 1.9 it probably wont happen also as it's just a conversion of RTR 6 Gold to be playable with RTW 1.6 engine (and also BI 1.6).

    There wont be any patch anymore with either of this game, at least in regards of units to add etc.

    RTR VII however is on a different topic altogether...

    RTR VII is a different topic, but the team still values historical accuracy, so no onagers, I'm afraid... What you can do is make your own mini-mid and copy-paste into EDU, EDB, ET and EDUE the onager entry from the vanilla. I think the mechanics for the stone-ball will still be there in descr_projectile, so you should not have a problem there.
