OVERVIEW*:

The beginning of the 11th century was marked by the disastrous invasion of the Seljuk Turks. In 1071 Seljuk army defeated Armenians and their Byzantine (East Roman) allies in the battle of Mantsikert, and by 1081, all of Armenia, Anatolia and other countries of the area were conquered and devastated by the Seljuks.

Thousands of Armenians among them many aristocratic families fled their devastated country and found refuge in mountainous Cilicia partially Armenian-inhabited since the period of Tighran empire (187-70 B.C.).

In the year 1081 new Armenian state sometimes mistakenly called “Lesser Armenia” was proclaimed in Cilicia by Prince Ruben related to the Bagratide Royal family.

1) How independant will Armenia be? It was more or less a semi-independant state either in the orbits of the Byzantines, Rum, or the Crusaders.

2) Are you moving the mod's focus to unimportant or very minor factions now that you have made Armenia? Or is this the token little guy?

It will begin as an independent faction at war with the Byzantines and Turks. Its aim will be to survive while being at odds with Byzantium, surrounded by Turks and faced with competition for its former lands from Georgia.

A] Since I'm the sole driving force behind this mod last I checked, I'd say PDER's focus is whatever my focus is.

Well so far you have yet to do something bad. I wouldnt make 2 AAR about a bad mod only a really good one.

First draft of the Dismounted Nakharars. Quite frankly, these are likely to change as I'm not really that pleased with them and am still undecided whether they should start out with mail or get two armour upgrades...

Lesser Nobles. The upper class of the Armenian society, also known as aznwakans or aznavurs. The word azat literally means "the one who is free", a "freeman" skilled in the many ways of warfare. They are called to guard the sacred borders of Armenia. Well armed with a sword and armoured with the best they can afford: heavy mail and lamellar, these fearsome men are ready to take on the various enemies surrounding the borders of Armenia.

7. [Kentronakan Gund] - Elit spearmen unit
Armenian Kentronakan Gund- (in translation means Central Soldiers/Uints) were the elite of infantry in battlefield. They were always in the center of armenian battle formation. The Kentronakan Gund were used from Argishti I (which is 785 BC) till the end of Cilician Kingdom. Soldiers were equipped with heavy armour which developed with the yeras, + they had long shields and long spears. They looked like Mecedonian Falangs under Alexaner's time, just more advanced in armour and more mobile. In Kintronakan Gund were soldiers from Royal lands, they were the most brave with highst moral choosen soldiers. Also in Kentronakan Gund were low rang nakharars and bdeshks.
During Armenian battle history 9 of 10 times the cavalry were placed on the fanks with the rest of Armenian infantry, axemen, spearmen, swordsmen etc, but behind Kentronakan Gund were the King with his boddyguards or Sparapet (Gundstabel in Cilicia) with his boddyguards, so there were no healp or reinforcement for Kentronakan Gund in case someting went wrong, because King's or Sparapet's (Gundestabel's) buddyguard's head task were to defend the King or Sparapet and not to crush and healp the infantry units. That's why Kentronakan Gund's soldier were kind of "kamikadzes", for them it was like win or die. Their strength (skill) were very high moral, heavy and well armed choosen soldiers with 60% diffence 40& attack. I can tell more about this unit, but I guess this much is enough.

7. Nakharar heavy infantry (maces, heavy)

Kentornakan Gund: Heavy Spearmen with very long shields and very long spears. This soldiers were the elit of Bagratuni infantry, many times Nakharars and Sepuhs in them. (I'll try to find pictures of these warriors)

No problem on adding the faction. I've been wanting to add new factions to Anatolia for a long time, as I always felt that part of the map was neglected by CA. So now Armenia will be fighting it out with the Byzantines, Rum Turks, Seljuks and Georgia out there. Should make the region a lot more interesting!

No problem, by the way if you havent alread... cilicias main goal is not only to survive... but to Reconquer the armenian highland!

You can also use these at shields etc.
