    Default Can't Install Kingdoms

    Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forums and need some help. I just bought M2 a couple weeks ago and decided to try the Kingdoms expansion today. For some reason when I try to install Kingdoms, it tells me that I don't have the correct patch and that it cannot install. I was under the impression that Kingdoms came with all necessary updates. I have not patched M2 at all, and have reinstalled it twice to be sure. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do next. Type slowly, I'm nearly computer illiterate.

Wow what a coincidence, I just picked up Kingdoms today and I'm having this exact same problem. I assume its just an oversight and that yes, we will need to download the massive patch?

Patch 1.2 is on the disk. Update Vanilla (Medieval 2) to 1.2 and you should be able to install Kingdoms.
Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.

    Tosa will be missed.

Cannot determine the installed game language for Medieval II Total War: Kingdoms.
That's what I get in the beginning of installation. Both, the original MII:TW and Kingdoms, are English versions. Any ideas?

    Edit.
And none of them is a downloaded version.

I tried doing this, but when I try to download the 1.2 patch it gives me the same message about not having the correct patch. It doesnt make much sense to me. Anyone familiar with this problem?

Download or Install 1.2? You don't need to download it. It's on the Kingdoms Disc1. Right click on the cd/dvd rom drive, choose open and you'll see update 2 folder (or semething like that). Open the folder and run the patch from the cd. If this doesn't help, you'll need to delete any MII:TW registry. Don't know how? Download CCleaner. It's a free software. After uninstalling MII:TW, choose registry window in CCleaner and delete any Medieval II: Total War related registry. Then reinstall the game, run it once (main menu is enough), install the 1.2 update and, here it comes, the Kingdoms. When it asks you to install 1.3 update, just click "yes". Only then it will install the four campaigns. Hope this helped.

I followed these instructions (unistalled, used ccleaner, reinstalled, ran the game), but when I tried to install 1.2, it told me the same thing...incorrect patch version. I am starting to get ticked. I have never had any problems remotely like this with any of the other TW games. I am at a loss as to what to do! I have a feeling that I threw $30 away when I bought Kingdoms.

Kingdoms gives an error installing on even slightly modified M2TW versions.
Solution: uninstall M2TW, install M2TW all over again, install Kingdoms.

Run the CCleaner softeware. Click the "Rgeistry" button IN CCleaner. It will show you the registries. Erase the MIITW ones (anything you can see).

On the right there are several buttons. One says 'Cleaner" witha little broom. One says Registry with some block or somthing similar. So i click on registry. Do i make sure all of the boxes are checked and then click "Scan for issues"?

You choose any Medieval2 related registry (the gmae itself, the patches, anything...) and click "Delete Registry" button. But only AFTER uninstalling the game.
