do NOT bump threads minutes after you posted! Nobody will know. Maybe trying to open with steam screwed it up. uninstall it then reinstall it,that's all the advice i can give.

Are you logged in as the administrator of the pc? I remember reading something where someone had a similair problem with vista.

hey guys, thanks for responding
reinstalling it does not work
I'm also logged in as the admin, it is the only user acct

You should contact Steams tech support concerning the issue,they should be able to give you some semblance of an idea as to what must be done.
